    摘要: A surgical device includes a jaw assembly, an articulating assembly and a drive shaft. The jaw assembly includes first and second jaws. The articulating assembly is removably coupled to a proximal end of the jaw assembly and includes a distal joint member, a proximal joint member, and a pivot pin. The pivot pin is fixedly coupled to the distal joint member and is rotatably coupled to the proximal joint member. The jaw assembly and the distal joint member together define a first longitudinal axis. The proximal joint member defines a second longitudinal axis. The drive shaft includes a gear element that is meshingly engaged with a pivoting gear element that is fixedly coupled to the pivot pin. Longitudinal movement of the first drive shaft pivots the jaw assembly relative to the proximal joint member about a pivot axis defined by the pivot pin.

    摘要: A surgical stapling device includes a handle assembly, an elongate body extending distally from the handle assembly, and a tool assembly. The tool assembly is mounted onto the distal portion of the elongate body for articulation and includes a staple cartridge that supports a plurality of staples and pushers. An actuation sled is movable through the staple cartridge to eject staples from the staple cartridge and a clamp member is movable through the tool assembly to move the tool assembly from an open position to an approximated position and to advance the actuation sled through the staple cartridge to eject staples and transect tissue. In order to minimize the space for the firing assembly in the proximal portion of the tool assembly, the actuation sled and clamp member are supported in a nested relationship in a pre-actuated state of the tool assembly. The clamp member is subsequently moved to a position proximal of the actuation sled during a firing stroke of the stapling device.

    摘要: An end effector includes a mounting portion that mounts to a surgical stapling apparatus, first and second jaw members extending distally from the mounting portion, a drive beam engagable with the first and second jaw members, and a threaded drive screw. The first jaw member includes a first tissue engaging surface and the second jaw member supports a fastener cartridge. The fastener cartridge includes a second tissue engaging surface that defines fastener retaining slots that support fasteners. The drive beam includes a retention foot formed of a first material. The retention foot defines a threaded bore that supports a threaded insert formed of a second material. The threaded drive screw is threadably engaged with the threaded insert and is rotatable to distally advance the drive beam along the threaded drive screw to fire and form the fasteners.
