Abstract: A method of operating a surgical assembly is disclosed. The method includes receiving a first input from a first RFID scanner indicative of a first information stored in a first RFID chip of a first modular component of the surgical assembly, receiving a second input from a second RFID scanner indicative of a second information stored in a second RFID chip of a second modular component of the surgical assembly, determining an operational parameter of a motor of the surgical assembly based on the first input and the second input, and causing the motor to effect a tissue treatment motion of the first modular component.

The method includes connecting a power assembly to a control circuit, wherein the power assembly is configured to provide a source voltage, energizing, by the power assembly, a voltage boost convertor circuit configured to provide a set voltage greater than the source voltage, and energizing, by the voltage boost convertor, one or more voltage convertors configured to provide one or more operating voltages to one or more circuit components.

Abstract: A surgical stapler having an end effector, a firing drive electric motor, and a control circuit is disclosed. The firing drive electric motor is configured to actuate a staple firing stroke of the end effector. The control circuit can be configured to provide a pulse width modulated (PWM) electrical signal to the firing drive electric motor and adjust a duty cycle of the PWM electrical signal based at least in part on a speed of the staple firing stroke. The control circuit can further be configured to provide a pulse width modulated (PWM) electrical signal to the firing drive electric motor, adjust a duty cycle of the PWM electrical signal based at least in part on a target speed of a staple firing stroke, and lower the target speed in response to the duty cycle exceeding a safety threshold value.

The surgical computing device may include a processor that is configured to determine a present network locus, wherein the present network locus is any of a first surgical network or a second surgical network; identify a data communications session; determine a surgical data type of the data communication session, wherein the surgical data type is any of a first type of surgical data or a second type of surgical data, and direct the data communications session to the first surgical network if the surgical data type is the first type of surgical data or to the second surgical network if the surgical data type is the second type of surgical data.

Abstract: A surgical stapling end effector comprising a cartridge channel jaw, an anvil jaw, and a surgical staple cartridge positioned within the cartridge channel jaw is disclosed. The surgical staple cartridge comprises a plurality of staples, a cartridge body comprising a plurality of staple cavities, a longitudinal slot, and an outer lateral cartridge wall comprising a recess defined therein. The surgical staple cartridge further comprises an electronics sub-assembly positioned within the recess, wherein the electronics sub-assembly comprises electrical pathways, a printed circuit board removably attached to the outer lateral cartridge wall within the recess, and a wireless transmission coil electrically coupled to the printed circuit board by way of the electrical pathways, wherein the wireless transmission coil is configured to transmit at least one of power or data between the printed circuit board and a corresponding wireless transmission coil of an instrument to which the surgical staple cartridge is attached.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a body, a shaft, a stapling assembly, and a sequential logic device. The body includes a safety switch, a firing actuator, and a motor. The stapling assembly is disposed at a distal end of the shaft, wherein the stapling assembly is configured to selectively move from an open position to a closed position to clamp tissue. The sequential logic device is operatively coupled with the motor and configured to detect an actuation of the safety switch and of the firing actuator. The sequential logic device is further operable to detect an order in which the safety switch and the firing actuator are actuated, compare the detected order to a predetermined order, and in response to determining that the detected order is equivalent to the predetermined order, transmit a motor activation signal to the motor.

The proximal driving body is slidably housed within the body. The staple driving segments each have a free proximal end. The proximal driving body is capable of simultaneously actuating the array of staple driving segments to drive the plurality of staples against the staple forming pockets of the anvil.

Abstract: A method of operating a robotically controlled surgical instrument that includes an end effector, a driving assembly, and a lockout, the method includes inhibiting actuation of the driving assembly when the lockout is in a locked configuration in response to an unspent staple cartridge being absent from a first jaw of the end effector. The method also includes inserting the unspent staple cartridge into the first jaw of the end effector to switch the lockout to an unlocked configuration. The method also includes actuating the driving assembly to pivot the first jaw, which includes the staple cartridge, toward a second jaw of the end effector to at least one of staple or cut tissue with the end effector when the lockout is in the unlocked configuration.
