Abstract: A forming body of a glass forming apparatus may include a first conduit comprising a first conduit wall and at least one slot in the first conduit wall, and a second conduit disposed above and vertically aligned with the first conduit, the second conduit comprising a second conduit wall and a slot extending through the second conduit wall. The forming body may include a first vertical wall and a second vertical wall extending between an outer surface of the second conduit wall and an outer surface of the first conduit wall at a first side and a second side, respectively, of the forming body. The forming body may include a first forming surface and a second forming surface extending from an outer surface of the first conduit wall and converging at a root of the forming body. Methods of forming a continuous laminate glass ribbon are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method of forming a chalcogenide glass element, the method includes depositing molten chalcogenide glass from an injection tip of a nozzle and into a cavity of a mold at a flow rate, the nozzle being inserted into the cavity, and during the depositing, moving at least one of the nozzle and the cavity relative to each other to substantially fill the cavity with the molten chalcogenide glass, and changing the speed of the at least one of the nozzle and the cavity based upon alignment of the injection tip with a cross-sectional radius of the cavity.

Abstract: A combustion burner employed in a submerged combustion vessel used to melt high index glass includes an arch positioned on a burner in the submerged combustion vessel. An amount of combustible gas flows through a first port disposed in a first haunch of the arch and through a second port disposed in a second haunch of the arch. Fuel is supplied through an end port in a fuel supply line. The end port is disposed under the arch. An amount of glass is fed into the submerged combustion vessel and is melted inside the submerged combustion vessel by igniting the burner. Some of the melted glass at least partially solidifies against a wall of the submerged combustion vessel such that the melted glass is contained in a vessel of itself.
