Abstract: A tire includes two beads, two sidewalls connected to the beads, and a crown. The crown includes a belt reinforcement, a tread, and a stiffening ply. The belt reinforcement has an axial width W. The tread includes tread pattern blocks and grooves having a groove bottom. The tread is made of a material that has a dynamic shear modulus G* of less than 1.25 MPa. The stiffening ply includes filamentary reinforcing elements that are rigid in terms of compression, and that are arranged under at least one of the grooves of the tread.

Abstract: A tire is provided with a tread that includes first and second sectors and grooves. The second sectors are formed of a rigid reinforcing compound. Each of the first and second sectors has a contact face intended to contact a road surface when the tire is in use. Each groove includes sidewalls and a bottom, and extends from an end of an adjacent contact face. A depth P of each groove is measured in a radial direction between its bottom and a position corresponding to a radial height of the adjacent contact face. At least one of the second sectors has a contact face that includes a recess having a depth p of less than 2 mm, as measured in a radial direction from a surface of the recess to a position corresponding to a radial height of an adjacent first sector.

Abstract: A method for determining a limit speed for driving, for a driver at a vehicle's steering wheel, includes a step of estimating a grip potential available at a given instant between a tire of the vehicle and a roadway on which a tire of the vehicle is running. The grip potential is estimated as a function of at least one of: a known influencing parameter, and a measured influencing parameter. The method also includes a step of determining a need for grip as a function of a driving situation of the vehicle and driving characteristics of the driver. The method further includes a step of determining a limit speed for driving as a function of the need for grip and the estimated grip potential. By virtue of the limit speed for driving, it is possible to prevent exceeding an estimate grip potential available.
