Abstract: Systems and methods for conducting a transaction using multiple devices are described. In examples, a first device presents, via a first application, a first user interface (UI). The first UI facilitates first transaction functionalities associated with at least one first action of a plurality of actions comprising the transaction. Input to the first device is detected, which results in a transition of the first device from a first state to a second state. A second application on a second device detects the transition and sends an instruction to the first device to present a second UI. The second UI is configured to facilitate at least one second transaction functionality of one or more second transaction functionalities that are associated with at least one second action of the plurality of actions comprising the transaction.

Abstract: A point-of-sale (POS) system used in performing a POS transaction between a merchant and a consumer. The POS system includes a display having a touch panel, a main processor and a memory device. The POS system also includes a secure enclave with a secure processor and a microcontroller. The main processor is configured to display a series of screens to guide a consumer through the POS transaction. The microcontroller provides the inputs from the touch panel to the main processor when the POS system is operated in a pass-through mode and provides the inputs from the touch panel to the secure processor when the POS system is operated in a secure touch mode.

Abstract: Techniques for conducting transaction(s) between a merchant and customer(s) via a multi-device point-of-sale (POS) system is described. The multi-device POS system may include a merchant-facing device and a plurality of customer-facing devices. A merchant application executing on the merchant-facing device may determine an attribute of a customer based on data received during a pending transaction. The merchant application may determine accommodation capabilities of individual customer-facing devices of the plurality of customer-facing devices. The merchant application may select a customer-facing device for the customer to use in the transaction based on the attribute of the customer and the accommodation capabilities of the individual customer-facing devices. The merchant application may generate a user interface directing the customer to the selected customer-facing device.

Further, the multi-device POS system can include a first merchant-facing device having a second processor for processing second instructions for presenting a first merchant UI, which can enable the merchant to perform a first action associated with a first transaction of the one or more transactions. The first merchant-facing device can be coupled to the customer-facing device. The multi-device POS system can further include an application, which can be stored on the customer-facing device, a second merchant-facing device, or a personal device, for presenting a second merchant UI enabling the merchant to perform a second action.

Abstract: Temporarily provisioning functionality to a personal device in a multi-device point-of-sale (POS) system is described. In an example, a presence of a personal device operated by, or on behalf of, a merchant can be determined to be within a range of a POS system of a merchant. The POS system can include a merchant-facing device and a customer-facing device that is coupled to the merchant-facing device. Functionality can be provisioned to the personal device that (i) configures the personal device to present a merchant user interface (UI) via a display of the personal device to enable the merchant to interact with one or more customers and (ii) enables the personal device to interact with at least one of the merchant-facing device or the customer-facing device. Responsive to determining an occurrence of an event, the functionality can be de-provisioned from the personal device.

Abstract: A point-of-sale system is a dual-screen stand assembly that includes a merchant terminal and a consumer terminal. The merchant terminal and the consumer terminal can be mated together in a fixed position to form a single unitary stand, or can be separated from each other in a separated position with each terminal serving as its own separate stand. The merchant terminal supports a merchant computing device and is oriented in a merchant-facing direction. The consumer terminal is detachably mated to the merchant terminal and supports a consumer computing device that is oriented in a consumer-facing direction. The point-of-sale system also includes a card reader as part of the customer terminal to perform a payment. The card reader is configured to accepting swipe cards, chip cards or contactless (EMV or NFC) payments.
