摘要： In an image forming apparatus, when a first sheet and a second sheet are subjected to printing and the second sheet is being conveyed at a particular timing after a sheet sensor detected passage of a trailing end of the first sheet, and when a sheet interval between the first sheet and the second sheet is equal to or greater than a particular threshold interval, a controller positions first and second developing rollers to first and second separated positions, respectively, after developing of images to be transferred onto the first sheet has been completed, positions the developing rollers to be used for printing on the second sheet to respective contact positions, and starts developing images to be transferred on the second sheet. The controller is further configured to perform a color printing using both the first and second developing rollers, and a monochromatic printing using only the second developing roller.

The controller conducts a first process, in which, when the cover is moved from an open position to a closed position, the controller drives the first motor to rotate the photosensitive drum without causing rotation of the developing roller; and a second process, in which, after a lapse of a first period since the controller started driving the first motor, the controller drives the second motor to move the contact/separation cam from the first phase to the second phase and move the switching cam from the first phase to the second phase causing the developing roller to be moved from the contacting position to the separated position while the photosensitive drum is rotating.

摘要： An image-forming apparatus includes: a cover; and a separation mechanism. The separation mechanism includes a cam; a cam follower; and a release member. The release member is configured to move the cam follower from an operating position to a non-operating position in accordance with movement of the cover from a closed position to an open position. In a state where the cam follower is at the operating position, the cam follower is guided by the cam in accordance with rotation of the cam to allow the cam follower to slidably move between a protruding position and a standby position. In a state where the cam follower is at the non-operating position, the cam follower is not guided by the cam to allow the cam follower to be maintained at the standby position independently of the rotation of the cam.

The cartridge shields the light from the light emitted when attached to an attachment position. The first and second frames face across the attachment position. The light reaches the light receiver when the cartridge is detached from the casing. A door is movably secured to the casing between closing and opening positions, and a second opening allowing a sheet to pass through is formed on the door. External light entering through the second opening and directed toward the light receiver is shielded by a light shielding part provided to the first frame, which also serves as a guiding part to guide attachment of the cartridge.

The first transmission mechanism is configured to transmit the driving force received through the clutch mechanism to the sheet supply roller. The second transmission mechanism is configured to transmit the driving force received through the clutch mechanism to the external output gear.

摘要： An image-forming apparatus includes: a process motor; a developing motor; a sheet conveying device; first and second photosensitive drums rotatable by a driving force from the process motor; first and second developing rollers and first and second cams each rotatable by a driving force from the developing motor; a switching mechanism, and a controller. Rotation of each cam causes each developing roller to move between a contact position in contact with the corresponding photosensitive drum and a separated position away from the corresponding photosensitive drum. The controller allows the switching mechanism to transmit the driving force from the developing motor to each cam such that a timing of contact between the second developing roller and the second photosensitive drum in a low speed mode is coincident with or earlier than a timing of contact between the second developing roller and the second photosensitive drum in a normal mode.
