    Abstract: Computer-implemented methods of placing and processing calls in a communications network are provided. The computer-implemented method of processing calls in a telephone network comprises: identifying a plurality of calls that have been made by a particular telephone number to telephone numbers in the telephone network; determining whether a sequence in which the calls were placed corresponds to a correct order for calling those telephone numbers, the correct order being determined based on a predetermined order for calling telephone numbers in the telephone network; and determining that one or more of the calls were made by spoofing the particular telephone number if the sequence in which the calls were placed does not correspond to a correct order.

    Abstract: An enterprise voice system such as a contact centre is disclosed which provides a speech analytics capability. Whilst call recording is common in many contact centres, calls are normally recorded in single-channel audio files in order to save costs. Previous attempts to provide automatic diarization of those recorded calls have relied on training the system to recognise voiceprints of users of the system, and then comparing utterances within the recorded calls to those voiceprints in order to identify who was speaking at that time. In order to avoid the need to train the system to recognise voiceprints, an enterprise voice system is disclosed which inserts a digital watermark into the digitised audio signal from each user's microphone. By inserting the digital watermark with an energy, and, in some cases also with a spectrum, which matches the digitised audio signal, and taking advantage of typically only one user speaking at a time, a mark is left in the recorded call which a speech analytics system can use in order to identify who was speaking at different times in the conversation.

    Abstract: A computer implemented method for determining a physical size of a feature represented in an image is provided together with computer systems and programs for carrying out the method. The method receives initial data comprising an indication of a respective physical size of one or more known types of object. The method uses the initial data to generate reference data from a first reference image. The generated reference data comprises an indication of a respective inferred physical size of one or more reference types of object. The method uses the generated reference data to determine the physical size of the feature based, at least in part, on: a size of a representation of one of the reference types of object in the image; the inferred physical size of that reference type of object; and a size of the representation of the feature in the image.

    Abstract: There is provided a mechanism that allows automated calls made from a set of one or more numbers to be detected and routed in an appropriate manner. The calls are classified based, at least in part, on one or more features of a call frequency time series that is generated from data representing a plurality of calls previously made from a set of one or more numbers by determining a respective number of calls made by the set of numbers during each of a plurality of time intervals. The classification indicates whether the calls include automated calls. Further calls from the set of numbers are routed in accordance with the classification.
