    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure include methods for generating angularly deflected laser beams for irradiating a sample in a flow stream. Methods according to certain embodiments include generating a first set of angularly deflected laser beams and a second set of angularly deflected laser beams, propagating the first set of angularly deflected laser beams along a different optical path from the second set of angularly deflected laser beams, combining the first set of angularly deflected laser beams with the second set of angularly deflected laser beams and directing the combined sets of laser beams onto a sample in a flow stream and detecting light from the sample. Systems having a laser, an acousto-optic device and an optical adjustment component configured to generate a first set of angularly deflected laser beams and a second set of angularly deflected laser beams are also described.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include systems with multiple lasers having modified beam profiles. Systems according to certain embodiments include a first laser that produces a first beam of light, a second laser that produces a second beam of light and a beam shaping component that receives the first beam of light and the second beam of light at substantially the same position from different angles of incidence and is configured to generate from the first beam of light and the second beam of light an output beam of light having a predetermined intensity profile along a horizontal axis. Methods for irradiating a sample in a flow stream with the output beam of light are also described. Kits having one or more lasers and a beam shaping component configured to generate from a first beam of light and a second beam of light an output beam of light having a predetermined intensity profile along a horizontal axis are also provided.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure include systems for sorting particles of a sample in a flow stream (e.g., a biological sample containing cells). Systems according to certain embodiments include a flow cell configured to propagate a sample through a flow stream, a light source configured to irradiate particles of the sample in the flow stream, a photodetector configured to detect light from the irradiated particles and a support stage operationally coupled to the photodetector, where the support stage includes a closed-loop feedback position encoder that is configured to adjust position in the X-Y plane in response to a data signal generated by the photodetector in response to light from the irradiated particles. Methods for sorting particles using the subject systems are also described. Non-transitory computer readable storage medium are also provided.
