摘要: Embodiments of the invention are directed to using image data and contextual data to determine information about a scene, based on one or more previously obtained images. Contextual data, such location of image capture, can be used to determine previously obtained images related to the contextual data and other location-related information, such as billboard locations. With even low resolution devices, such as cell phone, image attributes, such as a histogram or optically recognized characters, can be compared between the previously obtained images and the newly captured image. Attributes matching within a predefined threshold indicate matching images. Information on the content of matching previously obtained images can be provided back to a user who captured the new image. User profile data can refine the content information. The content information can also be used as search terms for additional searching or other processing.

摘要: Software for initialized explore-exploit creates a plurality of probability distributions. Each of these probability distributions is generated by inputting a quantitative description of one or more features associated with an image into a regression model that outputs a probability distribution for a measure of engagingness for the image. Each of the images is conceptually related to the other images. The software uses the plurality of probability distributions to initialize a multi-armed bandit model that outputs a serving scheme for each of the images. Then the software serves a plurality of the images on a web page displaying search results, based at least in part on the serving scheme.

摘要: The systems and methods described create a mathematical representation of each of the media objects for which user ratings are known. The mathematical representations take into account the subjective rating value assigned by a user to the respective media object and the user that assigned the rating value. The media object with the mathematical representation closest to that of the seed media object is then selected as the most similar media object to the seed media object. In an embodiment, the mathematical representation is a vector representation in which each user is a different dimension and each user's rating value is the magnitude of the vector in that dimension. Similarity between two songs is determined by identifying the closest vectors to that of the seed song. Closeness may be determined by subtracting or by calculating the dot product of each of the vectors with that of the seed media object.

摘要: Embodiments are directed towards identifying authoritative sources of multimedia content useable in rank ordering class-dependent search-query results of multimedia content. In one embodiment, a citation model is employed for measuring or otherwise determining a strength of an authority to a content source. In one embodiment, a directed graph is constructed over a network of sources based on a propensity of one source to “cite” content provided by another source. In one embodiment, a random walk may be conducted across the network of sources to arrive at authority scores for each source in the network. In another embodiment, a machine-learning algorithm may be used to arrive at authority scores. The authority scores may then be applied for ranking, for example, search-query results, and/or retrieval purposes.

摘要: A method of generating a list of ranked media-content search results is presented. The method begins with a plurality of links to media-content being collected and the media content is grouped by originating site. A query for media-content is initiated when a keyword is received. The media-content from each originating site or subsite receives a tag-specific ranking. Each grouping of media-content is ranked based on external-based metrics and quality-based metrics. Quality-based metrics are defined by calculating a percentage of the media-content of each grouping that is associated with the keyword, the quality of the media content, relevance of the text associated with each media-content to the keyword, and other measurements. A relative weighting between external-based metrics and quality-based metrics is established for each grouping of media-content. A list of ranked media-content search results based on the relative weighting between external-based metrics and quality-based metrics are stored on the system.

摘要: Systems and methods for presenting media information to users that fosters discovery of new media and a media discovery interface are disclosed. Media objects such as songs are analyzed to determine a set of three or more objective characteristics that describe the media object. Icons representing the media objects are then presented to a user in display illustrating a three-dimensional space in which each dimension corresponds to a different characteristic and the icons are located within the three-dimensional space based on their characteristics. In this way, media objects having similar characteristics are located near each other within the three-dimensional space allowing the user to see and access similar media objects quickly and easily. Because the display does not rely on previously-generated metadata, the user may be shown media objects that have never been classified by users or which are relatively unknown to the general population of users.
