摘要: A method and network device for network traffic flooding. Specifically, the method and network device disclosed herein implement the mitigation of the lack of data-link layer (or L2 ) addressing resolutions, usually learned by or programmed manually into the network device, through the flooding of affected network traffic across identified network broadcast domains. Flooding of the network traffic in the aforementioned manner may ensure that at least the destination(s) of the network traffic receives the network traffic at least in scenarios where which it is unknown out of which particular physical network interface(s) should the network traffic be transmitted to reach the destination(s).

摘要: Malformed VLAN packets can be detected by programming suitable rules in a TCAM in the packet processing pipeline. In some deployments, for example, the TCAM rule(s) can match on the parsed EtherType metadata. More specifically, the match can be based on the EtherType metadata being set to a value equal to known VLAN TPIDs, such as 0x8100, 0x88a8, rather than being set to a standard EtherType.

摘要: A system administrator can specify NAT mappings to perform NAT translations in a switch. The administrator can specify an ACL to filter packets to be translated. Filter rules generated from the ACL are stored in a first memory store in a switch and NAT rules generated from the NAT mappings are stored in a second memory store separate from the first memory store. When a packet matches one of the filter rules a tag that identifies the ACL is associated with the packet. When the tagged packet matches one of the NAT rules, the packet is translated according to the matched NAT rule.

摘要: ECMP forwarding includes identifying and selecting an ECMP group of equal cost paths to a destination using destination information contained in a received packet. A member from the selected ECMP group is selected based on the ingress port on which the packet was received. The received packet is forwarded on the port that can reach the next hop associated with the selected member.
