Abstract: A method and apparatus for dynamically updating settings of an electronic mail client of a client device is disclosed. In one embodiment, as the client device moves to different network environments, the settings of the electronic mail client are automatically updated to account for each network's characteristics and operational requirements. In another embodiment, the settings of the electronic mail client are automatically updated to account for changes (e.g., upgrades) at a particular server. The settings can be updated based on network information or server information from received from another device.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus of generating document content are disclosed. Document content is generated by identifying a location in a document at which to insert content, the location associated with a content template, generating the content in accordance with the content template and application data generated by an application, and inserting the content into the document at the location in the document. The document content generation can further include retrieving application data from the application in accordance with a data mapping that maps application output data to the application data references in the template, where generating the content comprises generating text by replacing application data references in the template with the application data in accordance with the data mapping. The document content generation can further include retrieving one or more instances of previous application data from a historical record of previous application output.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a technique for editing an attachment included in an email message. The attachment is displayed within a message body of the email message and can be edited directly within the message body. Specifically, the technique involves launching a markup application that generates an editable version of the attachment within the message body. The markup application allows a user to make edits to the editable version of the attachment without leaving the email message.
