    Abstract: An electronic device disclosed herein is adapted to determine a location of touch input when liquid is present. The electronic device may include a force detection assembly having force detection units. When a touch input is applied to the display layer, the force detection units generates a differential capacitance that is used to determine a location of the touch input. The electronic device may further include a confidence interval algorithm that uses the location and builds a confidence interval around the location. The electronic device may include a touch input components that can determine whether the liquid is present. The confidence interval algorithm determines whether the liquid is present within the confidence interval and provides an updated location of the touch input. The electronic device further includes a machine learning algorithm designed predict a software application the user intends to select using the touch input.

    Abstract: Acoustic touch sensing systems can include a mechanically integrated structure including multiple acoustic transducers. For example, an annular structure including one or more piezoelectric segments can be fabricated and then coupled to a front crystal/cover glass. A single structure can simplify the structural integration of the device, can provide a mechanically reliable and stable structure for improved structural integrity of the system, and can provide for improved water sealing for a waterproof or water resistant device. The piezoelectric material in the annular structure can be shear poled such that a poling direction of the piezoelectric material can follow the curvature of the annular piezoelectric structure.

    Abstract: An electronic device having an enclosure and a cover is disclosed. The cover may be secured with the enclosure by a sealing element, or gasket. In response to using the sealing element to secure the cover with the enclosure, the sealing element may elastically deform. The elastic deformation may cause portions of the sealing element to extend into undercut regions of the cover and of the enclosure to form a first locking feature and a second locking feature, respectively. The first locking feature and the second locking feature may combine to provide a retaining force that retains the cover with the enclosure. Also, the first locking feature and the second locking feature may also provide a counterforce to a force applied to the electronic device (for example, dropping the electronic device) that prevents the cover from becoming unsecured from the enclosure.

The modular configurations allow a user to easily customize a watch with one or more functional modules to provide features that integrate with other operations of the body of the watch. The functional modules can be easily exchanged with each other to provide different components and functions at different times. Accordingly, a watch body need not include permanent components that provide every function that will later be desired by the user. Instead, the watch can have expanded and customizable capabilities by the use of one or more functional modules.
