In one aspect, the method can include actions of generating, by an access node, an RRC communication including one or more parameters that, when processed by the UE, configures the UE to forego use of computing resources to buffer for potential PDSCH transmission for a predetermined amount of time, encoding, by the access node, the RRC communication for transmission to the UE, and causing, by the access node, one or more antennae to transmit the encoded RRC communication to the UE.

Abstract: User equipment (UE) includes processing circuitry coupled to memory. To configure the UE for channel state information (CSI) reporting in a 5G network, the processing circuitry is to decode a radio resource control (RRC) configuration message, the RRC configuration message including first configuration information to configure determination of channel quality information (CQI), a rank indicator (RI), and a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) for the CSI reporting. Second configuration information is decoded to configure codebook parameters for a high spatial resolution codebook associated with the PMI. A precoding matrix is determined based on the first configuration information, where a number of coefficients in at least one coefficient vector of the precoding matrix is configured using the second configuration information. CSI is encoded for transmission to a base station, the CSI including the RI and the PMI associated with the determined precoding matrix.

Abstract: Embodiments are provided for resource monitoring and power saving in a user equipment (UE) operating according to a discontinuous reception (DRX) in new radio (NR) wireless communication system. The UE, operating in the DRX mode, monitors for a wake up occasion in control signal prior to the DRX ON time. If the wake occasion is detected, then the EFE monitors for a channel state information (CSI) resource signal (RS) prior to the DRX ON time. If no wake up occasion is detected, then at least a portion of the UE remains in a sleep mode prior to DRX ON time.
