    摘要: A positive acting magnetic clutch and brake assembly characterized by including a movable, magnetic member provided with two sets of detents arranged respectively on its opposing outer surfaces. The member is alternately shiftable into either a brake position, in engagement with a braking post mounted to engage one of the sets of detents, or to a drive position in which a reciprocally mounted mechanical dog is engaged with the other set of detents in a non-slip driving coupling between the magnetic member and a clutch assembly. A reciprocal mounting arrangement for the dog enables the magnetic member to be moved into driving contact with the clutch assembly before the dog becomes positively engaged with any of the detents on the magnetic member.

    摘要: A kilowatthour meter includes a voltge stator having a phase lag and light-load adjust assembly which permits smooth adjustment of its phase lag adjust and its light-load adjust from either end of the voltage stator. Each adjustment provides the same effect on the speed of the rotatable disk of the kilowatthour meter. The end of the voltage stator from which adjustment may be performed is established by selectably engaging adjustment screws in the accessible ends of the phase lag adjust and light-load adjust. Thus, voltage stators installed in either left or right positions on the kilowatthour meter are identical except for the ends into which the adjustment screws are installed being the only difference.

    摘要: An electronic time-of-day metering system is disclosed for measuring electrical power by at least two different mechanical recording devices depending on the time-of-day and time of week in which the electrical power is being consumed. A conventional kilowatt hour meter includes a set of decade gear driven dials which register the kilowatt hours consumed on a continuous basis. At least one other set of decade gear driven dials is provided for registering the consumption of kilowatt hours during preselected peak power usage intervals. A single MOS integrated circuit controls the operation of the alternate set of decade gear driven dials. This circuit utilizes as its time base the 60 Hz line voltage derived from the energy distribution system being metered. A clock circuit generates timing signals for a clock control circuit which includes a circulatory memory which is preprogrammed to contain the times at which one or more alternate sets of dials are to be actuated. When the clock time equals a stored time a gating signal is generated. At the same time a function command signal, also stored in the circulatory memory, is passed through the enabled gate for engaging or disengaging the alternate set of decade gear drive dials, depending on the value of the function stored. The gated signal controls the energization of a bistable clutch which engages the alternate set of dials. A method for registering total energy consumed by a metered system as well as energy consumed during preselected time intervals is also disclosed.

    摘要: A magnetically coupled communications port includes a switch for providing an enable signal upon coupling of a detachable magnetic coupler assembly to a fixed coupler assembly. The switch is magnetically activated and is positioned on the fixed coupler assembly in proximity to one end of a cylindrical slug of a magnetically conductive material. The opposite end of the cylindrical slug is positioned co-planar with an external face portion of the fixed coupler assembly. When the detachable magnetic coupler assembly mates with the fixed coupler assembly, contacting the face portion and the co-planar surface of the cylindrical slug, magnetic flux from the detachable magnetic coupler is concentrated through the slug causing the magnetically activated switch to switch from an inactivated position to an activated position.
