Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods are provided for transmitting and retransmitting data. A first message transmitted by a sender computing entity to a receiver computing entity over a first port may exercise a first network path whereas a second message transmitted over a second port may exercise a second network path. A system (e.g., sender computing entity) may determine network reliability metrics for a plurality of network paths. If a system detects data loss (e.g., packet loss) on a first port, a second port may be selected based on network reliability metrics for retransmission of the lost data. A port may for example, be selected for retransmission based on the following criteria: (1) the port has the longest consecutive duration without packet loss and (2) the port has received an acknowledgement for a packet that was sent more recently than the initial transmission of the lost packet.

Abstract: Media content may be mastered at a higher quality than is supported on various remote workstations to perform tasks with respect to that content, using transmission channels that do not support data transfer rates for large, high quality media content. A compressed version of this content may be transmitted over a first channel for use with various tasks on a remote workstation. For tasks such as color grading that benefit from this higher quality content, a separate but parallel communication channel is used to transmit a higher-quality version of this content. An uncompressed video stream can be encoded using a lossless codec to retain higher quality data. A high quality video stream can be transmitted over a separate transmission channel, and received to a decoder that can decode this stream to provide a high quality video signal for presentation via a grading monitor or other such high quality presentation device.

Abstract: Techniques for routing media streams in a provider network are described. A media routing service is disclosed that comprises one or more virtual media routers for routing media streams from one or more media sources to one or more downstream devices coupled to the provider network. The media routing service provides external entities (e.g., users) of the provider network with the ability to request for a virtual media router for routing media content and determines the appropriate set of computing resources necessary to provision and launch the virtual media router in the provider network. In certain embodiments, the media routing service processes routing commands generated by a client, generates routing information comprising source to destination mappings based on the routing commands, and securely distributes media content to identified downstream devices based on the routing information.
