Abstract: A communication terminal is connected to a server and provides movement guidance for a mobile unit based on guidance information delivered from the server. The terminal requests the server for update information for updating area identification information that identifies a section corresponding to an update target area and a section not corresponding to the update target area on a section-by-section basis. The update target area is an area whose terminal-side map information included in the communication terminal is an older version. The terminal updates the area identification information based on the update information transmitted from the server, requests the server for guidance information for providing movement guidance for the mobile unit based on the updated area identification information, and provides the movement guidance for the mobile unit based on the guidance information delivered from the server.

Abstract: A communication terminal is connected to a server and transmits a route search request for a destination to the server and obtains a route searched for from the server according to the request. When setting a destination or transmitting the route search request to the server, the terminal requests the server for guidance information targeted for at least an update target area around a current location among update target areas. The guidance information is for providing movement guidance for a mobile unit, and the update target areas are areas whose terminal-side map information included in the terminal is an older version of map information relative to the server's device-side map information. The terminal receives the guidance information transmitted from the server according to the request for the guidance information, and provides the movement guidance for the mobile unit using a route set on the terminal and the received guidance information.

Abstract: A communication terminal is connected to a server device in a bidirectionally communicable manner and configured to transmit a departure point, a destination, and a route retrieval request from the departure point to the destination to the server device and to acquire a route that is retrieved and delivered by the server device in response to the route retrieval request. The communication terminal receives, from the server device, location road information for identifying a position of a moving object on a map and identifying the position of the moving object based on the received location road information. The communication terminal transmits, to the server device, the route retrieval request in which the identified position of the moving object is set as the departure point, and receives, from the server device, a route that is retrieved by the server device in response to the route retrieval request.

Abstract: A regulation information analysis system determines transit regulations imposed on a target road or intersection to be analyzed based on probe information sent from a plurality of vehicles. An analysis terminal determines if transit regulations are in effect or not by detecting if the probe information indicating a transition that violates a method of transition to be analyzed, such as right/left turn prohibition is present at the target road or intersection. The analysis terminal determines, based on the geometric shape and the like of the target road or intersection, if there is an avoidance factor which a driver would desire to avoid transiting the target rode or intersection. The quantity of the probe information used for determining the presence or absence of the transit regulations is increased if the avoidance factor is found, whereby the determination accuracy is increased while the overall quantity of the probe information is suppressed.

Abstract: A road network analysis system detects major changes in a road network based on probe information from a plurality of vehicles. The probe information is tabulated and the change in the amount of traffic is calculated for each road with a predetermined time interval. If a remarkable change in the amount of traffic is detected for a road before and after a specific baseline day, it is determined that a major change in the road network affecting the traffic has occurred in the vicinity of the road, and the road is specified as a change-related road. A path search may be performed between the endpoints of a plurality of change-related roads, and the searched paths that have the most overlap with the searched paths are selected so as to identify the change-related roads which are commonly affected by the same cause and the endpoints thereof.
