    摘要: A method of and an apparatus for image enhancement taking ambient illuminance into consideration. The image enhancement method includes calculating an original-luminance contrast which is a luminance contrast with respect to an original-luminance of pixels forming an original image, calculating a fade-luminance by reflecting the variation of perceived luminance based on an ambient illuminance into the original-luminance, calculating a defade-luminance by converting the fade-luminance to maintain the original-luminance contrast, and calculating a display-luminance by reflecting the variation of perceived luminance by the ambient illuminance into the defade-luminance. Improving luminance contrast through adjustment of luminance based on ambient illuminance, effectively reduces the fade phenomenon.

The method includes calculating a representative value that shows color characteristics of pixels included in a color gamut, calculating a final target color required to convert the representative value to approach a reference target point existing in the color gamut, and converting the pixels included in the color gamut to approach the final target color. The apparatus includes a color gamut boundary storage module; a reference target point storage module; a target color determination module which calculates a representative value that shows color characteristics of pixels included in a color gamut and calculates a final target color required to convert the representative value to approach the reference target point; and a color conversion module which converts the pixels included in the color gamut to approach the final target color.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for enhancing the quality of images using complementary color contrast are provided. The method includes (a) extracting color information of each of a plurality of pixels of an input image, (b) determining whether the input image includes both a first pixel belonging to a first group and a second pixel belonging to a second group with reference to the extracted color information, (c) converting a first hue of the first pixel into an optimum point of the first group, and (d) converting a second hue of the second pixel into an optimum point of the second group, wherein the first hue corresponding to the optimum point of the first group and the second hue corresponding to the optimum point of the second group are complementary to each other.

    摘要: An apparatus and method are provided for correcting a color reproduced by a video device according to peripheral brightness so that the visibility of the video device is guaranteed under peripheral conditions brighter than the video device. The apparatus for correcting a color reproduced by a video device according to peripheral brightness includes: a lookup-table-creation unit which creates a lookup table based on saturation of the video device and brightness of peripheral conditions; a color-correction unit which corrects the color reproduced by the video device according to the created lookup table; and a color-error-compensation unit which compensates for color error resulting from correction of the color.
