    摘要: An optical recording and reproducing method is able to record and reproduce information by using an optical system using recording and reproducing light with a wavelength selected in a range of from 780 nm±10 nm and an objective lens with a numerical aperture NA selected in a range of from 0.45±0.01 and records and reproduces first and second optical recording mediums having different recording capacities. The first optical recording medium is constructed by using a substrate with a track pitch Tp1 being selected in a range of from 1.5 μm to 1.7 μm and a groove depth d1 being selected in a range of from 70 nm to 90 nm, and the second optical recording medium is constructed by using a substrate 11 with a track pitch Tp2 being selected in a range of from 1.2 μm to 1.3 μm and a groove depth d2 of the groove 12 being selected in a range of from 150 nm to 180 nm. This, the optical recording medium has compatibility with existing optical discs and has a recording density high enough to record a moving picture.

    摘要: This invention provides a method for producing a magneto-optical recording medium with a laminated film composed of a plurality of magnetic layers made of alloys of rare earth metals-transition metals such as a magneto-optical recording medium allowing direct overwriting through light intensity modulation and a magneto-optical recording medium allowing magnetically induced recording with super resolution, or a method for stably producing a magneto-optical recording medium excellent in performance.The method consists of using, as vaporizers to form the laminated magnetic film, three or more vaporizers including one or more vaporizers containing mainly rare earth elements and one or more vaporizers containing mainly transition metals. Then, particles ejected from a vaporizer containing mainly a rare earth metal and from two or more vaporizers containing mainly transition metals are allowed to continue to impinge onto the surface upon which the laminated film is to be formed, throughout the formation of the laminated film.

The inner portion has a reflectance value to a recording and playback light beam having a wavelength .lambda.. The portion having such reflectance value is extended to the peripheral portion so that a recording layer is extended to the peripheral portion.
