    Abstract: According to the present invention there is provided a highly reliable position sensor capable of preventing the entry of foreign matters such as water and dust from the exterior into a receptacle chamber formed within a housing. Formed in the housing are a mounting opening to be mounted in a sealed state to a throttle body and a receptacle chamber having an opening. The receptacle chamber and the mounting opening are partitioned from each other by a partition wall. A sensor body is mounted into the receptacle chamber and the opening of the chamber is covered with a cover, then a clearance formed between the opening and the cover is filled and sealed with a thermosetting resin such as an epoxy resin. A communication hole for communication between the receptacle chamber and the mounting opening is formed through an operating shaft which is rotating a sliding-element receiver of the sensor body. While the thermosetting resin is heated, the air expanded in the receptacle chamber is allowed to escape through the communication hole to the exterior. After a throttle position sensor as the position sensor has been attached to the throttle body, the communication hole formed in the operating shaft is shut off from the exterior by the mounting surface for the throttle body.

    Abstract: An intake system of a multi-cylinder interval combustion engine including a common inlet duct, first and second resonating ducts branched from the downstream end of the inlet duct, first and second resonating chambers leading from the first and second resonating ducts, respectively, a plurality of first intake ducts for connecting the first resonating chamber to a first group of cylinders, respectively, having ignition timings set not to come adjacent to each other, respectively, a plurality of second intake ducts for connecting the second resonating chamber to a second group of cylinders, respectively, having ignition timings set not to come adjacent to each other, a common intake chamber capable of communicating with both the resonating chambers through communication ports which can be closed by valves, and an actuator for opening and closing the valves at least in response to the engine revolutions. A valve operating system is provided to control at least the closure timing of the intake valves at least in response to the engine revolutions.

    Abstract: A cooling control apparatus for an automobile engine having a radiator and two or more electrically operated fans for circulating air through the radiator. Each fan is operated in response to a different predetermined temperature of the cooling water in the radiator so that first one fan is activated under normal operation and the second fan is operated only under heavier loads or high ambient conditions requiring additional cooling. In one embodiment a fan is operated upon activation of the air-conditioning system to cool its condenser regardless of the cooling water temperature.
