Furthermore, a high-pressure pump is provided to return pressure medium from the wheel brake into a main brake cylinder in the case of an anti-lock control operation or to deliver pressure medium from the main brake cylinder into a wheel brake during drive-slip control operation. A shut-off valve with a spring-actuated through-flow position and a shut-off position, which can be selected by the pressure at the main brake cylinder end, is arranged upstream on the suction side of the high-pressure pump. The hydraulic brake system with anti-lock and drive-slip control device is used in motor vehicles.

Connected to the return line is a storage chamber for the pressure medium taken from the wheel brake. A suction line starts from the brake line on the master brake cylinder side, with a hydraulically switchable check valve connected to the return line. A non-return valve is arranged between the connection of the suction line and the storage chamber. The high-pressure pump can draw pressure media from the master brake cylinder. The entry of the pressure media into the storage chamber from the suction line is prevented by the non-return valve. The hydraulic brake unit is suitable for motor vehicles.

An apparatus for damping courses of motion in particular for damping resilient wheel suspension systems in vehicles, having a damping piston that is displaceable inside a jacket tube which separates two work chambers and is connected to a piston rod. Between the work chambers there are flow connections, through which a flow is possible in only one direction, because of a unilateral actuation direction of separate check valves. The flow connections have throttle cross sections the size of which is definable by the position of a control slide inside a guide bore. The control slide is actuated via a control rod leading outside the jacket tube and is movable with two degrees of freedom. A motion in the direction of the first degree of freedom varies the throttle cross sections in the same direction, while a motion of the control slide in the direction of the second degree of freedom varies the throttle cross sections in opposite directions. The proposed apparatus is thus suitable for both passive and active damping control.

The plunger system has a plunger that is axially displaceable in a housing. At one end, the plunger engages a variable pressure chamber toward the master brake cylinder and at the other it engages a variable pressure chamber toward the wheel brake cylinder. It has an axial bore, through which a rod passes, between the two pressure chambers, and this bore can be closed on opposite ends if there is a danger of wheel locking or if wheel spinning occurs. The closure of the axial bore is effected by an axial motion of the plunger, which takes place if the wheels lock, on the one hand, and if they spin, on the other.

A suitable amount of fluid can then be transported from this fluid reservoir into the compensation chamber by means of a return pump.

A control conduit including at least one choke is connectable via additional choke channels between the pump channel and the return flow channel and has a branch conduit leading to the spring-biased end of the manometer piston. The valve piston is displaceable from its neutral position into an intermediate control position in which in the range of the fine adjustment of the flow the pressure from the load is applied through the control conduit to the manometer piston to provide a load compensated control. In the end control position of the multiway piston the load compensated control is disconnected and maximum through-flow is attained.
