Novel strains of yeast and methods for improved ethanol production utilizing the yeast strains are disclosed. In particular, the novel yeast strains Saccharomyces cerevisae YE1358 and YE1615 provide for increased fermentation temperature tolerance, as well as tolerance to increased levels of glucose and ethanol, and thereby provide increased ethanol production as compared to ethanol industry standard strains of Saccharomyces cerevisae. The novel yeast strains also generate decreased residual glucose than the ethanol industry standard yeasts.

Compositions of ferulate esterase producing bacterial strains or functional mutants thereof and methods of using ferulate esterase producing bacterial strains as silage inoculants for the enhancement of biogas production are disclosed. Ferulate esterase producing bacterial strains of Lactobacillus, including Lactobacillus buchneri, or functional mutants thereof are used as silage inoculants to improve the degradation of plant biomass for enhanced production of biogas.

A method for treating silage to enhance aerobic stability by inhibiting growth of microorganisms selected from yeasts, molds and spore-forming bacteria is disclosed. The method comprises treating silage or feed with a composition comprising Lactobacillus buchneri, LN5665, or the antimicrobial components produced thereby. The strain of Lactobacillus buchneri disclosed in the invention has been purified and isolated and has been found to be nontoxic, safe and able to improve aerobic stability of silage.

The invention relates to ore screening machines having longitudinal bucker bars 17 spaced transversely across a screen box with transverse rails 1 spaced longitudinally along the screen box and supported on bucker bars. The transverse rails have a tension member 5 embedded therein which is connected to a C-shaped connecting member 6 at each end thereof. The C-shaped connecting members connect with hook members 7 which in turn connect with a clamp 9 which is secured to each side wall 14 of the screen box to apply tension to tension member 5. The bucker bars and transverse bars forming a grid structure to support screen modules 18 seated on the transverse rails 1 to provide a screen mat extending across the screen box.
