    Abstract: A liquid crystal display device and driving method therefor are disclosed. The device includes a plurality of signal lines that apply different gray scale voltages to each of the pixels. A driving circuit is provided to generate the gray scale voltages to be applied to the pixels. In operation, the driving circuit applies the first gray scale voltage at intervals of the horizontal scanning time within a display period. The second gray scale voltage is output by a number of times that is not smaller than twice and not greater than (M−N) times at intervals of the horizontal scanning time from the beginning of the vertical retrace interval. The second gray scale voltage is then stopped until completion of the vertical retrace interval.

    Abstract: A driving method of a liquid crystal display device, even when a vertical retrace interval varies, can prevent contention between a driving signal transmitted to a driving circuit within the vertical retrace interval and a driving signal transmitted to the driving circuit within the display period of the next frame after the vertical retrace interval. The device has pixels, signal lines, and a driving circuit outputting the gray scale voltage to the signal lines. In the method, letting M be a value obtained by dividing the vertical retrace interval by a regular horizontal scanning time and rounding up a fraction after the decimal point, and letting N be an integer of 1 or more, the gray scale voltage is outputted from the driving circuit to the signal lines by a number of times between twice and (M−N) times within the vertical retrace interval.

    Abstract: In a display device comprising a display panel driven in an active matrix scheme, a display control circuit generating image data and clock, and at least one source driver acquiring the image data in response to the clock and supplying image signals based on the image data to the display panel, the present invention generates dummy data in stead of the image data, makes the at least one source driver acquire the dummy data, reads out the dummy data acquired by the at least one source driver, compares the dummy data read out from the at least one source driver with the dummy data in an original state, and adjust delay time of the clock to the image signal in accordance with the comparison result, so as to reduce flicker in an image displayed by the display device due to timing difference between the image data and the clock.
