Abstract:
An exception programming device in a reproduction machine capable of being programmed for a production run for producing a first plurality of copies of a document set having a common set of features and a second plurality of copies of the document set having selected features that are exceptions to the common set of features including single document input switches automatically providing selected exception features to the processor for a single identified document, the single document input switches sequentially providing the exception features for each identified single document, and multiple document input switches automatically providing selected exception features in parallel to the processor for a group of identified documents having identical exception features.
Abstract:
A method for a sender to automatically distribute information to a receiver on a network using devices (such as printers and facsimile machines) and communication channels (such as electronic mail) defined in a receiver profile. The receiver profile establishes the properties and mode for receipt of information for receivers on the network and the profile is published in a network repository for all network users or is accessible by selected groups or individuals on the network. Receivers have additional control over network senders by defining an information filter which further controls sender channel access (to a receiver) by defining some channels as having priority of access such as direct or delayed access, as well as selectively permitting senders to override the receiver profile. Consequently, receiver profiles provide a variable receiver definable link to senders using multiple forms of media as well as multiple hardware platforms and network configurations.
Abstract:
Touch dialogue User Interface (U.I.) for programming a reproduction machine using a touch control CRT screen with display providing a message area, U.I. state selections, and plural tabbed file folders, each file folder when opened in turn displaying a smaller card file of tabbed cards with adjacent work area, each card in the card file when opened providing a display of icons representing first level machine programming selections for touch selection, each icon when touched displaying further icons representing second level programming selections in the work area for touch selection.
Abstract:
A technique for pre-programming a reproduction machine for a plurality of complex jobs involving a variety of machine features and requirements using the operator console and touch sensitive screen display while the machine is in the print state or still in the process of completing a previous job. In particular, while the machine is in operation, touching a Program Ahead file on the screen, displays a simulation of a plurality of pre-programming slots or folders. By touching one of the pre-programming folders, a job can be pre-programmed into that slot or folder using file folders and subfolders that simulate a plurality of features and subfeatures of the machine. The features are automatically stored in the selected pre-programming slot on the touch sensitive screen and can be run upon the completion of the current job in progress or at a later time at the discretion of the operator. The job features of the selected job slot can also be changed at any time while a current job is in progress.

Abstract:
A technique for pre-programming a reproduction machine at a console screen for a plurality of complex jobs by simulating a plurality of pre-programming slots in memory and machine features for each slot corresponding to required job runs and automatically storing the selected features in the pre-programming slots, including the means to transfer the stored features from one memory slot to another memory slot and the means to transfer the stored features to a removable media such as a floppy disk. The floppy disk can be inserted into another reproduction machine to automatically pre-program that machine for a plurality of job runs.
