Abstract:
A treating method for imparting hydrophilic property to the surface of a hydrophobic polymer substrate comprising the step of: contacting the surface of the polymer substrate having carbon atoms bonded with a single hydrogen atom in the molecule with a radically polymerizable compound and then irradiating actinic rays to the polymer substrate coated with the polymerizable compound. The homopolymer of the above polymerizable compound is soluble and/or swellable in water or in electrolytic solutions. If desired, the polymerizable compound may be mixed with a triplet state sensitizer having triplet state energy of 50 Kcal/mol or more or photosensitizer which produces free radicals by irradiation.
Abstract:
An electron acceptor polycondensation polymer of the formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group having not more than 15 carbon atoms; C.sub.m is a divalent connecting group; FLac is an electron acceptor group having a fluorene nucleus as its basic structure; X and Y are a carbonyl group or an acid amide group forming a urethane linkage with the oxygen atom of the diol; R.sub.2 is a bifunctional organic residue having not more than 20 carbon atoms, n is a number greater than 10 which represents the degree of polycondensation of the resultant polycondensation polymer.
Abstract:
A method for improving the adhesiveness of the surface of a synthetic polymeric substrate to coatings, which comprises coating the surface of the synthetic polymeric substrate with a photopolymerizable composition comprising (A) a hydrophilic resin obtained by the polymerization of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer composition containing at least 10% by weight of a hydrophilic unsaturated monomer, (B) a radical-polymerizable mono-unsaturated monomer and (C) a triplet state sensitizer having a triplet state energy of at least 50 Kcal/mole, and then irradiating actinic rays to the coated surface of the polymeric substrate.
