    摘要: A projection display apparatus that is lightweight and provides bright, high quality images is provided. The projection display apparatus comprising a color separation and synthesis optical system 4, that performs color synthesis, generating an image, after separating light of the three primary colors of determined polarities into the respective three colors, and modulating those three color lights in relation to respective image signals therefor, and a projection lens 106. The color separation and synthesis optical system 4 comprises polarized light separating means 8, 9, 11 and 16 disposed in respective diagonal directions therein and reflecting spatial light modulating elements 12, 13 and 14 disposed to perform light modulation coordinated to an image signal for each respective color, for light separated according to polarization by the four polarized light separating means 8, 9, 11. Three spatial light modulating elements 12, 13 and 14 are disposed on the outer side of the polarized light separating means 9, 11 and 16, other than the polarized light separating means 8, that is disposed on that side of incident light, at least two from among the four polarized light separating means 8, 9, 11 and 16 are wire grid polarized light separating plates and an astigmatism correcting lens 21 is provided between the polarized light separating means 16 disposed on that side at which projection is performed and at least one of the spatial light modulating elements.

    摘要: In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, white light emitted from a light source is homogenized by an integrator optical system; the R and the G light component of the white light becomes P polarization light as the white light passes through a color polarizer; and then the G light component is converted into P polarization light while the R light component remains unchanged as the G and the R light pass through another color polarizer. Then, the G and the R light are light-modulated respectively by reflection type spatial light modulation elements for the G and the R light, the elements being disposed so that they have a different distance from a polarizing split face of a polarizing beam splitter. The G light that has been light modulated passes through a lens causing an axial chromatic aberration corresponding to the distance difference and thus exits therefrom.

    摘要: The present invention provides a video projector equipped with a projection lens system having only one optical axis for projecting a plurality color images displayed on a plurality of CRTs. The color images displayed on the CRTs 2R, 2B and 2G are respectively focused onto a writing side of respective spatial light modulators 4R, 4G and 4B through a plurality of writing lens 3R, 3G and 3B. On the other hand, a light from a reading light source 5 is divided into 3-color lights of R, G and B by a cross-type 3-color separation member 25. The three color lights are respectively inputted into a reading side of the respective spatial light modulators through a plurality of polarization beam splitter blocks 26R, 26G and 26B each having a pair of dielectric multiple layers 26a, 26b disposed parallel to each other. A plurality of reading light outputted from the spatial light modulators are synthesized and outputted as a composite color light by a cross-type 3-color composition member 28 so as to be projected with a magnification onto a screen by the projection lens system.
