    Abstract: A pinch valve body having a cast polyurethane liner within a fabric reinforced carcass of molded rubber. The lined valve body is made by laying up the carcass on a smooth, clean oversize mandrel with a fabric reinforcement in contact with the mandrel which is frictioned and skimmed on one side only, the uncoated fabric fibers being in direct contact with the mandrel. Reinforcing plys of frictioned and skimmed fabric are applied around the special fabric layer to build the body to the desired strength and thickness. The carcass is then placed in a mold and partially cured under heat and pressure. Following the partial curing step, the oversize mandrel is removed and the carcass is placed in a mold with a conventional size mandrel. Liquid polyurethane is then poured into the mold to fill the void between the mandrel and the carcass. The mold is closed and the body is cured under heat and pressure to complete the curing of the carcass as well as the polyurethane which becomes firmly bonded to the exposed fibers of the special reinforcing fabric.

    Abstract: A pinch type diverter valve including a hollow Y-shaped resilient valve body having a pair of angularly disposed leg portions. The valve body is disposed within a housing which includes means for selectively pinching the leg portions to control flow therethrough. The pinching means includes an outer pinch bar and an inner pinch bar arranged in substantially opposed relation adjacent each leg portion, and actuating means for selectively moving the inner and outer pinch bars to provide a gas tight closure of one leg portion while at the same time providing a fully open passage within the other leg portion. The pinch bars may also be disposed selectively at any desired intermediate position, permitting use of the valve as a mixing valve.

    Abstract: A diaphragm valve having an annular valve seat and a spaced opposed valve assembly comprising a fabric-reinforced elastic diaphragm capsule molded around a metal supporting disc. Low pressure fluid is selectively introduced within the elastic capsule to resiliently expand the capsule toward the valve seat. The elastic capsule is reinforced around the circumference of the disc edge by a layer of tire cord fabric which permits a hemispherical expansion of the capsule without permitting a destructive stretching of the capsule in this region.

    Abstract: A pressure fluid actuated pinch-type valve of substantially oval cross section having a width substantially exceeding its height and having a relatively short face-to-face length. A flanged resilient valve body is fitted within a flanged oval-sectioned housing having spheroidal end portions permitting lateral expansion of the valve body during pressure fluid closure thereof. The semicircular end walls of the resilient valve body each include a longitudinal tapered protruding portion on the exterior and an opposed coextensive depression on the interior thereof to permit the fluidtight two-lobe sealing of the valve body in the closed position of the valve.
