Abstract:
A training device and method of use thereof to initiate and develop proper shooting technique for basketball players. The device comprises a pair of arm braces that when worn overlay the inside portion of the forearm and upper arm of the shooting arm of the player, a pair of sleeves attached to the arm braces that are adapted to snugly fit around the player's forearm and upper arm, and an interconnecting pivot which allows the arm braces to pivot relative to one another over a predetermined range of motion whereby the forearm is prevented by mechanical resistance from pivoting beyond the point at which it forms a right angle with the upper arm.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the preparation of a transparent crystalline adduct consisting of bisphenol A (75 parts) and bisphenol TMC (25 parts), which has a melting point of 144.degree. C. which is below the melting points of the pure starting compounds bisphenol A (157.degree. C.) and bisphenol TMC (208.degree. C.).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of processing the waste sludge obtained in purification facilities for phosphoric acid produced by the wet process. The composition of this sludge is such that it cannot be utilized for any purpose in this state. It is known that sludge from wet phosphoric acid purification facilities contains different quantities of certain substances, the concentrations being such that these substances may not be allowed to mix with surface water or ground water under any circumstances, not even in the case of dumps. A typical composition of such waste sludge is as follows:______________________________________ Fe 9.0% by weight P.sub.2 O.sub.5 21.0% by weight CaO 6.2% by weight SiO.sub.2 12.5% by weight MgO 5.8% by weight Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 2.7% by weight Cr.sub.2 O.sub.3 0.7% by weight V.sub.2 O.sub.5 0.6% by weight Na.sub.2 O 18.0% by weight K.sub.2 O 0.3% by weight F 1.7% by weight C 2.5% by weight S 0.3% by weight Remainder* 18.7% by weight 100.0% by weight ______________________________________ *The remainder consists mainly of hydration water and carbonate that did not decompose at a temperature of 105.degree. C.
Abstract:
A process for operating of an internal combustion engine running on fuel that is both externally ignitible and self-ignitible, especially gasoline, the operating region of the engine including self-ignition or compression-ignition (CI) regions and external-ignition or spark-ignition (SI) regions, and a high compression ratio suitable for self-ignition of the fuel being provided, at least in compression-ignition regions, and combustion being initiated by self-ignition of the fuel-air mixture in compression-ignition regions and by spark-ignition of the fuel-air mixture in spark-ignition regions, and part-load operation being assigned to the compression-ignition region, whilst full-load operation and/or operating modes with high engine load as well as cold starts are assigned to the spark-ignition region. In order to improve the quality of the exhaust gases while maintaining high efficiency, a largely homogeneous fuel-air mixture should be produced in the combustion chamber in the compression-ignition region.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for the purification by distillation of p,p-bisphenol A from the melt. The p,p-bisphenol A melt thus obtained is highly heat-stable, stable in storage and colour-stable, is free from high-boiling components and no longer contains any surface-active or non-distillable metal, salt, acid or polymer components and no sulphur-containing components; o,p-BPA and phenol are removed and the low-boiling components are scarcely detectable.
Abstract:
High molecular weight, gel-free ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymers may be prepared by the process of solution polymerization if a particular relationship of temperature/pressure is observed.
Abstract:
Referring to process and equipment for the indirect drying of sludge, especially for the drying of wastewater sludge, which may undergo previous mechanical dehydration and/or preheating, it is intended to provide a method that permits utilizing low-value energy for drying purposes while avoiding environmental nuisance. With reference to the process, the problem is solved by drying the sludge under vacuum which is produced by withdrawing the water vapor by means of an injection condenser, the equipment provided for solving the problem comprising a barometric condensor associated with a mechanical sludge dehydrator and at least one sludge drier for indirect drying with an hermetically closed sludge space, the gas dome of the sludge space being connected to the injection condenser through a line for withdrawal of the water vapor.
Abstract:
A process for preparing bisphenol A which has a purity of at least 99.95 wt. % of p,p-bisphenol A (BPA). Thermally stable and colour-stable BPA purified in accordance with the invention produces improved thermal and colour stability and improved optical transparency in polymers such as e.g. polycarbonates prepared therefrom.
