摘要: The present invention employs a light weight fixed bed to support an intaglio plate, and discloses a print roller mounted on a movable trolley which is advanced across the intaglio plate causing the pressure of the print roller to effect the printing. The trolley is fabricated from light weight beams substantially forming the sides of a hollow box beam, and the print roller is stiffened by support of intermediate rollers tied to a trolley beam. This precludes the print roller from flexing under the load presented by the intaglio plate and the associated paper and felt material as the print roller under pressure traverses the plate. This allows the use of a lighter, smaller diameter print roller. Handwheels attached to the trolley provide spring loaded pressure to control the pressure of the print roller on the intaglio plate assembly. The trolley is driven across the bed and plate by a manually operated external drive wheel, which causes the print roller to rotate under pressure across the plate effecting printing as it rolls. Below the bed of the table is a lower roller attached to the trolley and circumfirentially in contact with the lower bed face. This roller provides support to the underside of the fixed bed to prevent its flexure under the pressure of the print wheel pressing on the plate assembly at the upper surface of the bed. Also supporting this lower roller are intermediate rollers secured to the horizontal lower trolley beam.

摘要: Disclosed for use in a manufacturing line is a material handling system which can be utilized for electronic component manufacturing, such as semiconductor slices, at subatmospheric conditions. The articles to be subjected to various manufacturing steps are moved serially on a track of gas or air. At a work station which requires a manufacturing operation to be performed at subatmospheric conditions, e.g., a vacuum, the article is initially loaded into an input air lock which incorporates a magazine loader capable of storing and conveying such articles into a manufacturing processing station operating at subatmospheric conditions. Once the input air lock system is loaded, the entrance gate to such air lock is closed and the air lock system is evacuated to match the subatmospheric pressure of the manufacturing processing work station. When the pressures are matched, an exit gate in the input air lock system opens and a slidable air track located in an interim chamber is coupled with the interior of the manufacturing station. Pulses of compressed gas are utilized to transfer the articles from the input air lock, through the interim chamber to the manufacturing processing station. The articles are then processed in such station. At the conclusion of the manufacturing step, the articles are unloaded and transferred through an output interim chamber to an output air lock which is at the same subatmospheric pressure as the manufacturing processing work station. The articles are transferred from such work station using pulses of compressed gas until the output air lock is fully loaded. When fully loaded, the exit gate associated with said output air lock is closed and the output air lock is raised to atmospheric pressure. The articles are unloaded for further processing or disposition.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a novel intaglio printing press and a method for intaglio print making using the intaglio printing press described herein. The present invention is comprised generally of two assemblies: a press bed assembly and a print head assembly. The print head assembly serves as a first class lever within a pair of surfaces of a press bed assembly that define runway. The runway structure of the press bed assembly confines the force applied to the print head assembly and translates that force into a pressure directed to the print paper covered and inked artwork. The print paper and inked artwork are positioned proximate to the lower surface and the print head portion of the print head assembly is situated between the artwork and the upper surface. The print head assembly comprises one or more lever handles, a compression roller and one or more track roller. The lever handle(s) provide a torque lever for receiving a manually exerted downward force and to provide a handle for moving the print head assembly along the runway, thereby making compression passes across the artwork. The track roller and compression roller are secured a predetermined distance from each other and within a housing that forces the compression roller against the print paper and inked artwork at the lower surface of the runway and simultaneously forces the track roller (or bearings) against the upper surface of the runway. Printmaking proceeds one pass at a time across the lateral extent of the print paper covered artwork.

摘要: Disclosed for use in a line for manufacturing an article is a manufacturing work station which operates at subatmospheric conditions. The work station comprises a housing which includes a base plate having a recess at least as large as the article to be manufactured. The recess has a plurality of grooves formed in it. A spacer plate overlies the recess and has an aperture over each of the grooves in the base. A track insert plate generally of the same configuration as the spacer plate overlies said spacer plate and has a plurality of grooves therein which overlie each of said spacer apertures. A plurality of slanted holes are formed through the track insert plate and connect to the grooves in the track insert plate whereby when gas is applied through selected base plate grooves, the gas is transmitted through the slanted holes to move the article in the work station.

摘要: A lightweight portable intaglio press comprises three assemblies: a print table assembly, a side rail assembly and print head assembly. A work piece is positioned on the upper surface of print table assembly (the platen) and between left and right side mounting rail of the side rail assembly. The print head assembly comprises a frame, a print roller rotationally affixed to the frame, a pair of side rail rollers rotationally affixed on either side of the frame and substantially above and behind the print roller on the frame and a pair of handle levers securely affixed to the frame forward of the print roller. An increase in downward force on the work piece at the print roller is realized and related to the ratio of distance between the pair of side rail rollers and the print roller, to the distance between the print roller and the point on the pair of handle levers where downward force is applied. In operation, an operator exerts a downward force on the handles and moves the print head assembly forward and then backward between the left and right side mounting rail and over the work piece.

摘要: An improvement in method and apparatus for drying seed cotton to a predetermined range of moisture content; including the steps and means for performing the steps of passing the cotton in contact with a first moisture sensor, subsequently passing the cotton through a drying system, subsequently passing the cotton into contact with a second moisture sensor located outside of the drying system, and using the combination of signals from the sensors to control the amount of moisture removed from the cotton while in the drying system; characterized by employing a plurality of the first moisture sensors so connected that the moisture sensors sensing the least moisture content will have its signal used in the combination of signals to control the amount of moisture removed. This compensates for a problem in the prior art of having a moist leaf or the like cause excessive drying of the seed cotton because of the high moisture contents sensed.
