Abstract:
A game piece with a hidden image that is visible through a decoder filter, with a first visible layer having an image gradient mapped to a first electromagnetic wavelength range and a second visible layer with a disguising mask and the image gradient mapped to a second electromagnetic wavelength range, the electromagnetic wavelength ranges selected based on a color hue for the decoder filter and the disguising mask having an electromagnetic wavelength within the second electromagnetic wavelength range. A method of making a game piece with a hidden image that is visible upon viewing through a decoder filter is disclosed.
Abstract:
A controlling and/or regulating device for a supporting roll stand (2) of a continuous casting installation (1) for metals, especially for steel materials (3), comprises a plurality of successive roll segments (8) with lower frames (11) and upper frames (12) which can be adjusted relative to the other and pairs of piston-cylinder units (13). The measurement data of field devices (14) are acquired locally and processed. The controlling and/or regulating device simplifies the field cabling and the regulating concept by relocating functions to or next to a roll segment (8) in that the field devices (14) are arranged at or on the roll segment (8) or in the vicinity of the roll segment (8) at the stationary shop scaffold (17), and their measurement signals are processed by axle regulators (18) and are stored and communicate with a memory-programmable control unit (19) by a fieldbus module (20).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an antistatic article comprising a substrate or support having thereon at least one antistatic layer, wherein the antistatic layer comprises a conductive material having areas of patterned coverage.
Abstract:
An extensible set of commands to be executed in an ordered manner, such as a series of vector graphics commands, is provided in a Web page written in a markup language. The commands are embedded in statements in the Web page in a format that is conventionally used to define property variables. In each of such statements with embedded commands, the command and its associated data are included as the value specified for the property variable of that statement. The names of the property variables of the statements are provided according to a predetermined naming convention such that they indicate the sequence in which their associated commands as specified by their respective values are to be executed. When a Web control reads the Web page, it extracts the commands and their associated data from the values of the property variables of the statements, and executes the commands according to the sequence indicated by the names of the property variables.
Abstract:
In an automotive transmission, a method for determining whether an upshift should be enabled or disabled determines the predetermined upshift vehicle speed at which the upshift is scheduled to occur with reference to current throttle position and vehicle speed. The method employs the difference between upshift vehicle speed and current vehicle speed, the current vehicle acceleration, an empirically determined upshift vehicle acceleration referenced to current vehicle speed and the speed difference. If the current vehicle acceleration is equal to or greater than upshift vehicle acceleration, the upshift is enabled; otherwise, the scheduled upshift is disabled.
Abstract:
In a transmitter (100), circuitry is employed to automatically calibrate errors in a modulated carrier signal. A generator (320) is activated to generate (510) a low frequency square wave for use as data, which is used to generate a modulating signal from which the modulated carrier signal is generated. The modulated carrier signal is down-converted to an intermediate frequency (IF) signal having a steady state IF signal level. The instantaneous IF signal level is compared (545) to the steady state IF signal level to determine (550) whether the instantaneous IF signal level differs from the steady state IF signal level by greater than a predetermined amount, and, when the instantaneous IF signal level differs from the steady state IF signal level by greater than the predetermined amount, the modulating signal is adjusted (560).
Abstract:
Gases that are to be scrubbed, particularly flue gases, pass through an inlet line (14) into a processing area (9) wherein the gases are exposed to the effects of a scrubbing agent that is contained in a bath (4). To this end, the liquid is sprayed by means of a rotating disc arrangement (17), the discs of which are coated--preferably through a hollow shaft (18)--with a layer of the scrubbing agent, this coating then being separated from the rotating discs as a result of centrifugal forces, with the attendant formation of an annular spray zone. The gas scrubber can trap sulfur dioxide that is contained in the flue gases. To this end, water is used as the scrubbing agent, and sodium carbonate (soda) is added to this. The sodium carbonate is converted with the water and with the carbon dioxide that is contained in the flue gas to hydrosodic carbonate, and this, together with the sulfur dioxide that is contained in the flue gas forms sodium sulfate if oxygen or additional air is introduced through the opening (26) into the processing area (9), and this sodium sulfate then collects on the bottom of the bath (4) in the form of a sediment.
