Abstract:
A quick-connect coupling which includes a locking ring (20) disposed in an coupling body to co-operate with a catch surface on a tube fitted into the coupling. The ring is elastically deformable to go between an unlocking configuration and a locking configuration, in which at least one locking zone (30, 32) co-operates with the catch surface. To this end, the ring is provided with at least one unlocking bridge (22, 24) that protrudes through a slot in the body of the coupling. The ring is constituted by a strip that is plastically deformed to have at least the locking zone and the bridge. The ring forms a closed loop and has two ends (20A, 20B) which overlap, and which are suitable for sliding one over the other while the ring is being elastically deformed.
Abstract:
A pair of jaw fittings for mounting on the jaws of a pair of pliers for clamping a collar having two radially projecting tabs. The front faces of the jaws which come into abutment with the tabs include respective recessed housings each having an end wall, a bottom wall, and a top wall. The end wall of the housing in the second fitting is substantially plane. The end wall of the housing in the first fitting includes a substantially plane middle setback which leaves two lateral portions remaining that are parallel to said setback.
Abstract:
A clamp fitting is formed by an internal segment of metal band wound upon itself, and an external segment of metal band formed about a portion of the internal segment. The internal segment extends for more than one complete circumference such that the outer end of the internal segment overlaps the internal end of the internal segment to form a continuous internal surface. The outer end of the internal segment presents an ear formed by two folds of band placed back to back and projecting radially on the outer periphery of the clamp. The external band segment extends only for a partial circumference. One end of the external segment is attached to the outer face of the internal segment. The other end of the external segment is shaped as a hook capable of hooking behind the ear to maintain the clamp in a tightened position.
Abstract:
A device is disclosed for hermetically coupling two smooth tubes of the same diameter disposed end to end, particularly for coupling two elements of the exhaust pipe of an engine, such as those of automobile vehicles. A bush in one piece comprises a longitudinal slot provided with two radial assembly lips and surrounds the opposite ends of the two tubes on which it is clamped by a screw or a bolt traversing the radial lips. The bush presents two frusto-conical ends located on either side of a cylindrical central portion intended to be mounted astride the zone of connection of the two tubes and each lip of the longitudinal slot comprises at least one rigidifying element extending between said lip and each of the corresponding frusto-conical ends of the bush.
Abstract:
A device for coupling together in leaktight manner two smooth tubes disposed end-to-end, the device comprising a sleeve which diameter can be reduced by a tightening action, and a sealing ring (24) suitable for being disposed inside the sleeve so as to surround the ends of the two tubes. The ring is constituted by a looped flat strip (26) having two longitudinal ends (26a, 26b) suitable for coming into contact with each other when the sleeve is tightened around the tubes (20, 22). The first longitudinal end of the ring is provided with a notch (28), while the second longitudinal end of the ring is in the form of a tongue (30) suitable for being inserted into the notch. Both the width of the tongue and also the width of the notch taper in the direction going along the strip from the first longitudinal end to the second longitudinal end. When the tongue is in a partial insertion position in which it is inserted partially in the notch, the two sides (30a, 30b) of the tongue are suitable for coming into contact with the two sides (28a, 28b) of the notch while the free end (30a) of the tongue remains at a distance from the end wall (28c) of the notch, and, starting from the partial insertion position, the tongue is suitable for penetrating further into the notch under the effect of the tightening.
Abstract:
A sealed coupling comprises first and second endpieces. Beyond its end, the first endpiece has a U-shaped axial extension provided with a transverse groove. The second endpiece is provided with a radially outwardly extending and substantially circular flange. The flange is suitable for being engaged in the groove during relative transverse displacement of the two endpieces. The end of one of the endpieces is provided with a circular sealing gasket. The second endpiece has a resilient collar with a radial face that bears against the second radial wall of the groove, and one of the two endpieces has a projection situated for penetrating into a setback in the other endpiece.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a ring for swaging from a continuous metal strip includes stamping strip ends to about one-half the thickness of the metal strip. Studs are formed on the ends of the strip. The displaced metal is trimmed from the ends to maintain a uniform width. The strip of metal is cut between adjacent strip ends. The strip is then rolled until the ends of the metal strip are abutted, the compressed strip ends forming a housing for receiving a plate. Plates are fabricated to fit in the housing. Each plate includes corresponding holes for receiving the studs on the strip ends. The studs are riveted in the holes to secure the ring. The holes may be formed on the strip ends and the plate can be formed with studs to secure the ring.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a quick connection of a tube capable of being fitted in a connector, said tube presenting, at a determined distance from its end, a shoulder, whilst the connector comprises an O-ring intended to come into contact with the tube in the zone located between its end and the shoulder. A member for locking the tube is mounted in the connector, said member being axially immobilized with respect to the connector and elastically deformable in the radial direction between an inactive configuration and an active configuration in which it abuts on the shoulder. A bush is mounted to slide in the connector between a first position and a second position remote from the first towards the inside of the connector, said bush presenting a stop disposed on the path of the shoulder of the tube and ensuring, in its first position, hold of the locking member in its inactive configuration, whilst the locking member is released when the bush is in its second position.
Abstract:
Device for connection between a flexible pipe 1 and a rigid tubular joining piece 2 intended to be fitted inside the flexible pipe. Two coaxial, rigid, tubular elements 3, 4 are disposed respectively inside and outside the end of the flexible pipe and embrace this end. The inner tubular element 3 and the outer tubular element 4 each present, in contact with the flexible pipe, two cylindrical portions of different diameters, 3a,4a-3b,4b, the one of larger diameter being located towards the free end of the flexible pipe. The portion of larger diameter 3b of the inner tubular element thus constitutes, on its inner face, a housing 5 for the O-ring, said housing being closed by an annular wall 8 fixed to the outer tubular element 4.
Abstract:
The collar is formed by rolling up a strip (10). First fastening means formed by a hook (14) projecting radially are located at a first end (10A) of the strip, while second fastening means comprising a retaining element (12) projecting radially and suitable for constituting with said hook to close the collar are located at the second end (10B) of the strip. The free edge (14A) of the hook is suitable for being engaged beneath a rim (13) formed to project radially outside relative to the collar in the vicinity of the retaining means (12) while the retaining means are engaged beneath the hook so as to close the collar. The hook is preferably formed by an embossed projection regardless of whether or not the rim (13) is present.
