The present disclosure provides a method for surface treatment of a sliding surface on a metallic machine part, wherein the flat sliding surface of each machine part may include a dimpled structure with a defined pattern of surface indentations of a predetermined depth, dimensions, and shape. The present disclosure may also include providing for a uniformly distributed layer of metallic particles across a pre-treated, flat and smooth sliding surface of each machine part which is surrounded by protective atmosphere, directing a laser beam towards each predetermined area on said surface of the machine part which is covered with said layer of metallic particles in powder form such that the powder particles in layer are completely or at least partially melted with the surface underneath, and removing any unfused metallic particles from the surface of the machine part, and applying a layer of metallic particles in powder form onto each surface.

The present apparatus for testing rolling physical characteristics of materials, especially rolling contact fatigue resistance of materials, represents the most simple and universal solution, by which it is possible to test not only laboratory tested objects prepared in advance, but also various final products or parts thereof. Thanks to linearly oscillating movement of the testing ball 30 foreseen by the apparatus according to the invention, it is much easier to test the surface 20 of the tested object 2. While appropriate point contact between the testing ball 30 and appropriate surface 20 of the tested object 2 is ensured, the testing ball 30 is linearly oscillatory rolled here and there along the surface 30 of the tested object 2, which is thereby clamped in appropriate clamping unit 1. The loading unit of the present invention comprises a bearing surface 33 arranged opposite to the tested object 2 and is equipped with a groove 34 arranged in the direction of rolling of the testing ball 30. The groove being capable of guiding the testing ball 30 over the testing surface of the tested object.

The present invention is an apparatus for testing the rolling contact fatigue resistance of materials that enables the interruption of testing as well as the continuation of testing from a defined prior state. During testing of the rolling contact fatigue resistance of materials along a surface of the tested object, a testing ball is rolled under appropriate loading and numerous repetitions. The present invention ensures that the appropriate point contact is maintained between the testing ball and the surface of the tested object. The tested object is firmly held in by a clamping plate having a series of supporting protrusions separately arranged in grooves. The position of each protrusion may be fixed within its respective groove to provide a stable mounting area for the tested object. The present invention allows the tested object to be removed and replaced such that a test performed upon the tested object prior to its removal from the clamping unit may be continued upon reinsertion of the tested object.
