    摘要: Aspects relate to provision of enterprise call capabilities to mobile devices. For example, a mobile device can indicate, over a data channel, that a PBX is to make a call on its behalf to a called party. The PBX can call back the mobile device, call the called party, and bridge those call legs to establish the call. The mobile device can employ mechanisms that a particular incoming call is made by the PBX. These mechanisms can include using ANI information, sending, and receiving audible verification codes over the voice channel established after answering the incoming call. The verification codes can be selected based on different behaviors of the mobile devices and the network or networks used by the device(s).

    摘要: To handle a communication session at a wireless mobile communications device, after receiving an indication of current signal strength of an access point for a wireless local area network (“WLAN”) a signal strength threshold associated with the access point is retrieved. If the communication session is currently carried by a cellular network and the current signal strength exceeds the signal strength threshold, the communication session is switched from the cellular network to the WLAN. A metric is then adjusted based on timing of the switch relative to any switch of the communication session from the WLAN to the cellular network over a preceding time window associated with the access point. Based on the metric, the signal strength threshold associated with the access point is selectively adjusted.

    摘要: Mobile devices use a PBX and application servers associated with the PBX to access voice services. Some mobile devices can support simultaneous data and voice channels, with the PBX and application server respectively. Where a data channel is unavailable, a control and status updating mechanism is needed. One approach is to signal over the voice channel with DTMF tones. DTMF tones should be timed to cause the tones to arrive at the mobile device during a pause period of a ring cycle. However, it also is desirable to avoid unnaturally long silence periods or other pauses during system usage. Aspects relate to enhancing a user experience in these situations and successful transmission/reception of control and status information over a voice channel using DTMF tones.

Where a remaining battery power level is constrained, a determination can be made whether using one network over another saves more than a threshold amount of power over another network. Estimates of battery life for each network can be made based on predictions of a length of the communication session, and a power factor calculated for the network.
