Abstract:
Disclosed is a process for treating a cellulosic material selected from the group consisting of cellulose, regenerated cellulose, and mixtures thereof, comprising the steps of:contacting the cellulosic material with a dispersion comprising an effective sizing or waterproofing amount of a fatty acid adduct of a 1,2,4-triazole having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is an alkyl or alkenyl group having about 11 to about 21 carbon atoms and wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are individually selected from hydrogen or a lower alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
Abstract:
Isocyanate-reactive compounds are prepared by the reaction of a modified TDI distillation residue intermediate with a polyol. The modified TDI distillation residue intermediate is the reaction product of TDI distillation residue with a monohydroxylic compound. The isocyanate-reactive compounds are useful in polyurethane formulations.
Abstract:
A process for preparing water-scale inhibitors and, more specifically, a neat process for preparing acrylic acid/ethylene glycol graft co-polymers and a method for their use as scale inhibitors.
Abstract:
A novel, heat curable, liquid polymer composition is disclosed which comprises a modified polyurethane oligomer containing terminal ethylenic unsaturation and a free radical generating catalyst. In a preferred embodiment, the polymer composition further includes at least one additional component selected from a reinforcing agent and a filler.
Abstract:
A novel, heat curable, liquid polymer composition is disclosed which comprises a modified polyurethane oligomer containing terminal ethylenic unsaturation, a free radical generating catalyst, and at least one additional component selected from a reinforcing agent and a filler. The cured composition demonstrates desirable impact properties and is particularly useful in automotive body constructions.
Abstract:
A stable dispersion of a polymer in a polyol is prepared by reacting an organic polyisocyanate with a short-chain polyol in a high molecular weight polyol containing a relatively high primary hydroxyl group content, the ratio of the content of primary hydroxyl groups in the short-chain polyol to that in the high molecular weight polyol being at least a critical lower limit of about 3.5. The reaction is further carried out in the presence of a small proportion of water to achieve a reduction in the viscosity of the resulting dispersion. The dispersion is used in preparing high resilience polyurethane foam having desirable physical properties and which is of utility in a wide variety of cushioning applications.
Abstract:
Isocyanate-reactive compounds are prepared by the reaction of TDI distillation residue with a polyol in such proportions as to obtain a reaction product having an OH-number (mg KOH/g) of about 200 to about 700. The TDI distillation residue is obtained from the distillation of the product of phosgenating toluene diamine to the corresponding toluene diisocyanate and has a toluene diisocyanate content of about 30% to about 70% by weight. The isocyanate-reactive compounds are useful in polyurethane formulations.

Abstract:
The polyurethane oligomer reaction product of a hydroxyl-terminated prepolymer with a dicarboxylic acid anhydride is incorporated into conventional thermosetting polyester resin formulations to impart improved impact properties and reduced shrinkage behavior.

A novel, heat curable, liquid polymer composition is disclosed which comprises a modified urethane oligomer containing terminal ethylenic unsaturation and a free radical catalyst. In a preferred embodiment, the polymer composition further includes at least one additional component selected from a reinforcing agent and a filler; the cured composition demonstrates enhanced impact properties and is particularly useful in automotive body constructions.
