Abstract:
A manual gas venting and cutting apparatus for use in cutting an opening in and manually venting gas from the interior of a conventional unvented ostomy collection pouch includes a valve assembly having an open position, which permits gas to pass therethrough and a closed position, for preventing gas to pass therethrough. The valve assembly has an input portion for communicating with the interior of the ostomy collection pouch and an output portion for communicating with the atmosphere and a mounting device for mounting the valve assembly to a selected portion of the ostomy collection pouch. The mounting device releasably contains therein a portion of the valve assembly so as to position the input portion thereof proximate the interior of the ostomy collection pouch, and the output portion of the valve assembly proximate to the atmosphere. Also included is a cutting device for providing a geometrically-shaped opening through the ostomy collection pouch, which provides access to the interior thereof utilizing the valve mounting device which, after the opening has been made, is replaced by the valve assembly.
Abstract:
A method for sealing a mount including a wafer in a neck of a stationary cathode-ray tube comprises positioning a first tier of burner tips completely around the neck such that the burner tips are aimed nonradially along directions tangent to a first circle, the plane of the first circle being aligned along the wafer. The first tier of burner tips is split into at least first and second radial segments, each segment being connected to means for moving the segment toward and away from the neck. The first tier of burner tips, while remaining stationary, provide a vortical pattern of flames around the neck. The radial segments are then removed from around the stationary neck sufficiently to allow the tube to proceed along a conveyor line.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for heat sealing an electron gun mount, having a glass stem, into a neck of a cathode-ray tube includes a mount socket for supporting the mount within the neck and a plurality of burners for applying heat to the outside of the neck proximate the stem. The neck softens, thins and then seals to the stem, causing excess neck material that is lower than the stem, known as cullet, to be cut off. Prior to applying heat, a sleeve is disposed around the mount socket within the neck adjacent to the cullet, with a clearance between the sleeve and both the socket and the neck. A vibrating coil is attached to the sleeve for vibrating the sleeve while applying heat to the outside of the neck.

The valve assembly has an input portion for communicating with the interior of the ostomy collection pouch and an output portion for communicating with the atmosphere and a mounting device for mounting the valve assembly to a selected portion of the wall of the ostomy collection pouch. The mounting device releasably contains therein a portion of the valve assembly so as to position the input portion thereof proximate the interior of the ostomy collection pouch, and the output portion of the valve assembly proximate to the atmosphere. Also included is an absorbent pad suitable for receiving an antiseptic and/or deodorant. Also provided is a method for installing a valve assembly on an unvented ostomy collection pouch which includes the steps of providing a valve assembly; providing means for removably retaining a valve assembly; puncturing a hole through a selected portion of the ostomy collection pouch; inserting the valve assembly through the hole and removably affixing the valve assembly in place to the ostomy collection pouch with the removable retaining means.

Apparatus for sealing a mount including a wafer into a neck of a cathode-ray tube oriented along an axis comprises two tiers of burner tips. The first tier is disposed completely around the axis at a first distance therefrom and similarly aimed nonradially along directions tangent to a first circle. The second tier of burner tips is disposed completely around the axis below the first tier at a second distance from the axis and similarly aimed nonradially along directions tangent to a second circle. The first distance and the diameter of the first circle are greater, respectively, than the second distance and the diameter of the second circle.
Abstract:
The method for sealing a glass stem wafer into the neck of a CRT has a plurality of burner tips disposed completely around the neck. The burner tips are angled such as to create rotating hot gases around the neck. This eliminates the need to rotate the CRT bulb, the wafer or the burner tips, to achieve a uniform seal.
