    摘要: A handgrip formed in a wall of a plastics container, the wall having an interior, an interior surface, an exterior surface and a wall thickness and suitable for containing a carbonated beverage, including an integral structure formed of a central dome having a convex surface facing toward the adjacent said exterior surface and at least two concentric annular troughs, each having an annular concave surface facing the adjacent said exterior surface, an outer frustum interconnected with each trough and connecting rings, each of curved cross-section having an annular concave surface facing toward the interior, to join, integrally, the frustums to the next outer trough and the outermost frustum to the container wall surrounding the handgrip, the handgrip having a thickness approximately equal to the wall thickness, wherein the handgrip does not extend radially outwardly of the wall. An associated container, blow mold and method are also included.

The base comprises a petaloid design which has a plurality of at least three (preferably five) feet with an ever increasing radius of curvature joining the feet to the underlying base from the radially outer portion of the feet to the radially inner portion of the feet, a controlled radius from the axis of the container to that curvature and an area of material flow in feet ankles and straps therebetween to promote adequate material flow during blow molding, to the radially outer most areas of the feet and straps.

    摘要: The invention provides a self-standing blow molded two liter carbonated beverage bottle 1 weighing under 50 grams and having a unique petaloid base 7. The base comprises a petaloid design which has a plurality of at least three (preferably five) feet 9. Between each adjacent pair of feet is a radially extending valley 12 the width of which decreases with increasing radial distance from the bottles longitudinal axis toward a point of convergence 14 radially outside the bottle's diameter. The valley floor generally follows the hemispherical base shape and opens to an extended portion 13 of that base shape lying radially outwardly of the feet. The valley and extended portion initial pressurization of the bottle, deformation of the extended portions outwardly with a resulting raising of the center of the base away from the support surface.
