Abstract: A method and/or system are provided for improving kidney function and/or increasing Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) of the renal system, by applying acoustic and/or ultrasonic energy to one or more of the kidneys. The method suggests either focused or non-focused (or combined) energy delivery, optionally in a noninvasive approach, which could also be implemented invasively and/or by implantable device.
Potential applications of this technique, include, but are not restricted to, treatment of renal disorders such as CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) and/or AKI (Acute Kidney Injury), short term or long term intervention in kidney function for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes, modifying urine output in heart failure, modulating blood volume and/or pressure, and modulating clearance of compounds in the blood are typically difficult to extract from the kidneys, such as iodine, other imaging contrast media, and similar compounds.-

Abstract: The invention relates to a cardiac lead extraction system, comprising: a handle; an elongated body in communication with said handle; a bendable flexible portion in communication with said elongated body, said bendable flexible portion comprising a first lumen sized and shaped to fit over a cardiac lead; said bendable flexible portion being more flexible than said elongated body; an operational distal end in communication with said bendable flexible portion; where said bendable portion is configured to bend to a bending radius of less than 4 cm while keeping said first lumen open; and where said operational distal end comprises at least one lead extraction assistive tool, said operational distal end comprising a second lumen sized and shaped to fit over a cardiac lead, said second lumen being in communication with said first lumen, and said first lumen comprises an inner diameter of from about 1 mm to about 5 mm.

Abstract: An aspect of some embodiments of the invention relate to a system for tissue characterization using an acousto-electric effect comprising: at least one ultrasonic waveform generator; at least one waveform generation controller; at least one set of electrodes; at least one electric signal amplification circuitry connectable to at least one of said at least one set of electrodes to generate an amplified signal; and at least one signal processing unit for analyzing said amplified signal and to generate information related to properties of multiple locations within a target tissue; wherein at least one of said multiple location has no direct contact with any electrode, and wherein said properties of said multiple locations are obtained within up to 10 milliseconds per location on average.
