An apparatus for manufacturing a free-standing electrode film includes a mill line including at least one press having a pair of opposing working rolls and a backing roll associated with each working roll, a barrel of at least one of the backing rolls having a diameter that is at least 1.5 times a diameter of a barrel of the associated working roll, the barrels of the opposing working rolls each having a total indicated runout (TIR) of less than 5 μm.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a free-standing electrode film for an energy storage device includes preparing a first mixture including at least one electrode active material and at least one fibrillizable binder, the first mixture having total solid contents greater than 95% by weight, fibrillizing the at least one fibrillizable binder in the first mixture by subjecting the first mixture to a shear force, pressing the first mixture into a first free-standing electrode film, shredding at least a portion of the first free-standing electrode film, preparing a second mixture including the shredded at least a portion of the first free-standing electrode film, subjecting the second mixture to a shear force, and pressing the second mixture into a second free-standing electrode film. The first mixture may include at least a portion of a previously manufactured free-standing electrode film.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a free-standing electrode film includes preparing a mixture including an electrode active material, a binder, and an additive solution or conductive paste, the additive solution or conductive paste being in an amount less than 5% by weight of the mixture and including a polymer additive and a liquid carrier, as well as a conductive material in the case of a conductive paste. The mixture may have total solid contents greater than 95% by weight. Preparing the mixture may include mixing the additive solution or conductive paste with the electrode active material to lubricate the electrode active material and subsequently adding and mixing in the binder. The method may further include subjecting the mixture to a shear force and, after the mixture has been subjected to the shear force, pressing the mixture into a free-standing film.
