    摘要: One object of the present invention is to provide a kneader which can diminish wear of screws and a barrel while preventing the manufacturing process for the screws and barrel from becoming complicated. In this kneader, a pair of screws are rotated about respective axes thereof to knead a material to be kneaded which is introduced into a kneading space formed within a barrel. Each screw has such a shape generating deflection in a predetermined direction perpendicular to an arranged direction of the axes of the pair of screws during kneading of the material to be kneaded, and the kneading space has a shape such that a pair of accommodating spaces which accommodate each of the screws respectively are connected together so as to overlap each other partially in the radial direction, each accommodating space being formed in such a manner that the diameter thereof in the predetermined direction in which there occurs deflection of each screw is larger than in any other direction.

The top surface of the kneading flight is formed with a concaved cutout section. The cutout section is surrounded by two side surfaces, which face the axial direction, and a bottom surface, which is disposed between the side surfaces. The bottom surface of the cutout section is formed in a tilted planar shape in relation to the top surface. The opening of the cutout section, which faces one side of the rotational direction of the kneading screw, has a larger area than the opening which faces the other side.

    摘要: The present invention provides an optical fiber preform-heating furnace that is simple in its structure and excellent in uniformity of the temperature distribution in a circumferential direction of an optical fiber preform. The optical fiber preform-heating furnace includes a furnace core tube into which an optical fiber preform is supplied; a heater that surrounds the furnace core tube; a pair of electrode connection portions with which the heater is provided and has a face opposing to an outer periphery surface of the furnace core tube; and electrode portions that are disposed to each of the electrode connection portions and connected to a power supply. When a cylindrical heat insulator is disposed between the furnace core tube and the opposing faces, since an outward heat transfer amount from the furnace core tube side through the electrode portion can be reduced, the temperature distribution in a circumferential direction of the optical fiber preform can be improved in its uniformity.
