Abstract: The present disclosure provides processes for producing images with toner particles. In embodiments, toner particles of a certain diameter in size are applied to a substrate as an incomplete monolayer, and then fused to form an image that is a complete monolayer and possesses a thickness less than the diameter of the particles utilized to form the image.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides processes for producing polyester toners by emulsion aggregation where the resulting toner particles have high pigment loadings and desired circularity. The methods include adding a metal, in embodiments a metal compound, at the beginning of coalescence, which speeds the coalescence process and produces toner particles having a desired size and circularity for use in electrophotographic imaging systems.

Methods for providing these resins and toners are also provided which include the process of controlling the gloss of the toner utilizing a slow acid addition during coalescence optionally combined with little or no chelating agent added during the aggregation process.

The polymeric additive of the present disclosure includes a copolymer possessing at least one monomer having a high carbon to oxygen ratio and at least a second amine-functional monomer. Toners possessing this polymeric additive exhibit excellent stability with respect to relative humidity and excellent charging characteristics.

Abstract: Toner particles are provided which may, in embodiments, include a core and a shell formed in situ. The resins utilized to form the core, the shell, or both, may be contacted with a water soluble initiator. The resin, in embodiments present in the shell, cross-links at a temperature near the temperature for coalescence, and may prevent a crystalline resin in the core from migrating to the toner surface.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a magnetic toner composition. The toner composition includes one or more resins, and spherical ferromagnetic nanoparticles. Also provided is a process for preparing these toners including ferromagnetic nanoparticles. In embodiments, the aggregation of the toner is conducted at a pH greater than about 7, without the use of a coagulant. Additionally, in embodiments, freezing (stopping particle growth) and coalescence of the toner particles may be conducted at a pH greater than about 9. In yet other embodiments, the process may be conducted under an inert gas such as argon to avoid oxidation of the ferromagnetic nanoparticles during toner preparation.
