摘要: A system for generating orientation information includes a reflector, an image collection system, and a processor. The image collection system is configured to collect at least two sets of image data, where one set of image data includes a stronger indication of the reflector than the other set of image data. The two sets of image data are collected using at least one reflector with some orientation-specific characteristic or a reflector integrated into a device that includes some orientation-specific structural feature. Once collected, the two sets of image data are used to generate orientation information related to the reflector. In particular, orientation information related to the reflector is generated by taking the difference between the two sets of image data.

摘要: An eye detection system for safe detection of the eye positions of a subject estimates the distance from the eye detection system to the subject and reduces the power level of at least one primary light source of the eye detection system if the subject is too close to the eye detection system. If the subject is not too close to the eye detection system, the power level of the at least one primary light source of the eye detection system is increased, provided the power level is below a predetermined maximum power level. Primary light from the at least one primary light source reflected from the subject is sensed by an imager to obtain one or more images, from which the eye positions of the subject are estimated.

摘要: Systems and methods of obtaining measurement and baseline signals for evaluating assay test strips are described. In one aspect, an assay test strip that has a detection zone with at least one measurement region is held in a respective measurement position for each measurement region in the detection zone. In each measurement position, measurement signals are produced in a measurement data channel in response to light from a respective measurement region of the test strip and baseline signals are produced in a baseline data channel separate from the measurement data channel in response to light from a respective region of the test strip outside of any measurement region. Respective ones of the measurement signals are quantified with respect to corresponding ones of the baseline signals for each measurement position.

摘要: A method and apparatus for detecting a location of an eye of a user using an automated detection process, and automatically determining a position of a head of the user with respect to an object based on the detected location of the eye. A location of an eye of a user inside a vehicle is detected using the automated detection process, at least one of height and orientation information of the user is automatically determined based on the detected location of the eye, and a mechanical device inside the vehicle is controlled in accordance with the determined information. Moreover, an eye blinking pattern of a user is detected using an infrared reflectivity of an eye of the user, and messages are transmitted from the user in accordance with the detected eye blinking pattern of the user.

摘要: An object to be imaged or detected is illuminated by a single broadband light source or multiple light sources emitting light at different wavelengths. The light is detected by a detector, which includes a light-detecting sensor covered by a hybrid filter. The hybrid filter includes a multi-band narrowband filter mounted over a patterned filter layer. The light strikes the narrowband filter, which passes light at or near the multiple wavelengths of interest while blocking light at all other wavelengths. The patterned filter layer alternately passes the light at one particular wavelength while blocking light at the other wavelengths of interest. This allows the sensor to determine either simultaneously or alternately the intensity of the light at the wavelengths of interest. Filters may also be mounted over the light sources to narrow the spectra of the light sources.

摘要: Optical systems are provided. One such system includes an optical transmission path that is defined, at least partially, by a variable optical delay system. The variable optical delay system incorporates a variable refractive index component that is arranged to receive an optical signal. The variable optical delay system provides a control input to adjust a refractive index of the variable refractive index component so that latency of the optical signal can be altered. Methods and other systems also are provided.
