摘要： A method and apparatus for maintaining active sessions between communicating logical units in a computer network when an application system fails without having to re-establish the active sessions. By activating a persistent sessions capability at one of the logical units, the active sessions can be suspended and maintained while attempts at recovery are made. Recovery attempts include restarting the failed application or switching the suspended sessions to an alternate instance of the logical unit. The suspended sessions are resynchronized with the application system and session activity is resumed.

摘要： A machine head, especially for precision tuning of a guitar string or strings, avoids the slackness between the cog and worm gear drive of the existing design which can give rise to tuning slip and imprecise tuning. The proposed machine head has a spindle to which a string is secured at one end and carries an arm (2a). Adjusting screw (3) cooperates threadingly with an abutment (7) and the end of the adjusting screw bears on the arm whereby rotation of the adjusting screw determines the position of the arm and hence tension in the string.

摘要： A device for indicating the volume of liquid in a fuel tank or like container includes a linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) mounted within the tank, which is divided into a liquid containing section and a gas containing section by a longitudinally movable piston. Pressure gas is provided to the gas containing section of the tank through a port in a tank wall, and urges the piston to follow the liquid level in the tank. The LVDT has a fixed coil housing with a fixed electrical input and a rotatable core actuator. The core actuator is coupled for rotation in response to movement of the piston. Rotation of the actuator effects translational movement of the core within the coil, thereby producing a variable electrical output in response to changes in liquid volume.
