    摘要: The device includes a first fiber optic transmitter (FOT) to receive a millimeter wave (MMW) signal and to generate a multiple sideband optical signal, and a second FOT to generate a second optical signal, from a reference signal. A first wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical filter is connected to the first FOT to separate a first sideband into a plurality of first sideband channels, and to separate a second sideband into a plurality of second sideband channels, and a second WDM optical filter is connected to the second FOT to separate a reference sideband into a plurality of reference sideband channels. A detector receives the plurality of first sideband channels, to detect an active channel from among the plurality of first sideband channels. Fiber arrays receive the plurality of second sideband channels, and the plurality of reference sideband channels, and an optical coupler generates a combined signal therefrom. A photodetection block receives and processes the combined signal based upon the detected active channel.

    摘要: Method and apparatus are disclosed for depositing a uniform layer of material, such as titanium dioxide, on the surface of an object, such as a silicon sphere of a solar array (7). Component gases are injected at predetermined rates into a heated reaction chamber (5) where they react. Because of the reaction rate and injection velocities of the gases, the reaction is substantially completed at a calculated location inside the reaction chamber (5). The object which is to receive the layer, such as the solar array (7), is placed at the calculated location in the reaction chamber (5). The platform (68) to which the solar array (7) is attached is simultaneously tilted and rotated such that all areas of the surface of the array (7) are uniformly exposed to the titanium dioxide reactant.

    摘要: The present invention provides a fiber optic link utilizing asymmetric homodyne modulation and balanced detection to achieve a very high dynamic range. The link uses a Mach Zehnder Modulator to generate a double-sideband suppressed-carrier signal from a laser light signal of a carrier frequency and a modulating signal at a modulating frequency. The laser light signal is phase shifted and injected into the double-sideband suppressed-carrier signal. Two signals are generated wherein the fundamental components are out-of-phase. The two signals are input to a balanced receiver wherein the one signal is subtracted from the other, resulting in the fundamental components adding, thereby providing an improved fundamental signal.

    摘要: An adaptive system composed of an adjustable inverse distortion operator or structure compensates for dispersive distortion in a fiber optic channel. Parameters of the inverse distortion operator are automatically estimated and updated in accordance with minimizing some cost function of an error signal obtained by differentially combining the output of the inverse distortion operator with downstream decision values or with an undistorted training signal. Undistorted training signals may be derived from bit patterns (e.g., preamble) expressly transmitted for the purpose of adjusting the compensation system or from other non-training patterns known to be embedded in the received signal from the transmitter.

    摘要: An electro-optical device includes an amplifier having an input receiving a data signal, a crossing adjustment input, and an output. The device includes a light source and a Mach-Zehnder modulator having a first input coupled to the output of the amplifier, an optical input coupled to the laser, a bias input, and an optical output. A bias circuit is coupled to the bias input of the Mach-Zehnder modulator and preferably includes a pilot signal generator connected to the crossing adjustment input of the amplifier, and a feedback circuit coupled between the optical output and bias input of the Mach-Zehnder modulator and coupled to the pilot signal generator. The bias circuit applies the pilot signal to the crossing adjust input of the amplifier which forces the modulator to the correct bias point for duobinary transmission. Modulation on +1 and −1 levels is eliminated, and only the 0 level is modulated. The feedback loop forces modulated portion of the waveform to null bias.
