摘要： An apparatus and a method for common use of a power supply and a display apparatus using the same are provided. The display apparatus includes a display panel, a backlight unit which provides backlight to the display panel, and a power supply unit for common use which comprises an adjusting circuit unit comprising a plurality of resistances, and provides a current of a magnitude corresponding to a combination state of the plurality of resistances to the backlight unit. Accordingly, the power supply apparatus for common use adjusts an output current easily and is commonly used for diverse display apparatuses, and thus a manufacturing process is efficiently improved.

The backlight unit includes an LED; an LED driving unit which drives the LED in accordance with a switching operation of a transistor; and a control unit which adds an additional signal to an output current of the LED to obtain a combined current, compares the combined current with the reference current, and controls the switching operation of the transistor based on the results of the comparison, wherein the additional signal is a current signal whose level increases over time in each period and is then reset to a predefined value in each period in accordance with an operation cycle of the transistor.

摘要： A luminescence driving apparatus, a display apparatus, and a driving method thereof are provided. The luminescence driving apparatus includes: a driving circuit which is connected to a light-emitting device and drives the light-emitting device according to a control pulse having a fluctuating amplitude; a controller which, if an internal current of the light-emitting device is less than or equal to a threshold value, selects a position from among a plurality of different positions of the driving circuit based on the amplitude of the control pulse, senses a voltage at the selected position and determines whether a short-circuit has occurred between the light-emitting device and the driving circuit using a level of the sensed voltage; and a protector which if it is determined that the short-circuit has occurred, performs a protection operation with respect to the light-emitting device.

The light-emitting apparatus includes a light emitting part; a power supplying part; a switching part which is serially coupled to the light emitting part; and a control part which compares a switch voltage level with a comparison level, and controls the power supplying part to supply the driving power having a voltage level decreased by a reference level if the switch voltage level is higher than the comparison level. The control method includes supplying a driving power to the light emitting part; emitting light; measuring a switch voltage level across the switching part, and decreasing a voltage level of the driving power by a reference level if the switch voltage level is higher than the comparison level.

The inventive method and apparatus improves a response speed of a light source and image quality by minimizing a ripple of a current and reducing a time required to increase/decrease an amount of a current to drive a light source when a light source is turned on and off or a size of a current used to drive a light source is changed. An exemplary display apparatus includes a light source, a current generator which generates a driving current to drive the light source, a first current consumer which has a smaller resistance value than the light source, a first switch which is switched on and off to supply the driving current generated by the current generator either to the light source or to the first current consumer and a controller which controls the current generator to generate the driving current to reach a target value, and controls the first switch to supply the driving current to the first current consumer if the target value is smaller than the driving current.
