    摘要: Two-sided thermal media comprising thermal transfer receptive and/or direct thermal thermally sensitive coatings on one or both of a first and a second side thereof are provided. In one embodiment, two-sided thermal media comprising a substrate having a first side and a second side, opposite the first side, and a first and a second thermal transfer receptive coating supported on the respective first and second substrate sides is provided. In another embodiment, two-sided thermal media comprising a substrate having a thermal transfer receptive coating on a first side thereof, and a direct thermal thermally sensitive coating on a second side thereof, is provided. In some embodiments, a direct thermal thermally sensitive coating provided on one or both sides of two-sided thermal media is adapted to image at a temperature different than a temperature at which thermal transfer printing has or can occur.

    摘要: A thermal transfer medium is provided which is sufficiently opaque to be sensed by optical sensing means, yet forms images which can be transparent or semi-transparent (or opaque). The thermal transfer medium comprises a transparent substrate and multi-layer structure of a thin first coat and a thick second coating. The coatings are formulated such that only the second coating transfers to a receiving substrate upon exposure to a print head of a thermal printer leaving the first coat positioned on the transparent substrate. Separation of the two coatings allows the transparency/opacity of the image to be independent of the transparency/opacity of the first coats and the thermal transfer medium.

The transparent protective layer is of a thickness and weight, which permits sufficient heat to be conducted through it to the thermosensitive image-forming adhesive layer to cause thermally active dye in the thermosensitive image-forming adhesive layer to change color in the area where the heat is conducted.
