摘要: Pile weatherstrip-ping, which is clad with a wrapping of a film (14, 25, 104, 216) of flexible material, has one or more rows (19, 27, 100, 102, 212, 214) of pile (10, 24, 105, 233) on a backing (12, 28, 106, 218) in side-by-side relationship. The wrapping film material conforms to the outside surface of the row (19, 27, 100, 212 21 102, 214) of pile so as to define a bulb or bulbs which are completely filled with pile. Single row (19, 27) pile weatherstripping is made by wrapping the pile (10, 24) with the film material (14, 25) after first ultrasonically welding the film material along one edge thereof to the backing (12, 28) under the pile. Then, the film material (14, 25) may be bent around the pile as it moves through a guide (88). The film material (14, 25) is then attached along the opposite edge to the backing thereof so as to completely enclose and clad the row (19, 27) of weatherstripping. The film material may be wrapped around one row (214) of two adjacent rows (212, 214) of pile (233) and attached to the backing (218), leaving the other row (212) unclad. The film material (104) may be wrapped separately around adjacent rows and attached to the backing (106) to provide two clad rows (100, 102) of weatherstripping. By selection of the porosity of the film material (14, 25, 104, 216) and the density of the pile (10, 24, 105, 233), weatherstripping having desired compressibility and air and water infiltration control properties may be produced.

摘要: The present invention provides a two-wire line conditioning apparatus having an improved calibration and cancellation circuit and provides an improved calibration method using a multitone calibration signal. The apparatus automatically adjusts an electronic hybrid as part of a calibration procedure so as to eliminate undesirable echo effects when calls are placed along the line. The alignment procedure identifies the optimal balance in a rapid manner. The electronic hybrid balancing process and echo cancellation circuitry may also be utilized in a circuit for converting four-wire communications systems to two-wire communications systems. The line conditioning device of the present invention utilizes a multitone signal to simulate the voice frequency spectrum between approximately 500 Hz and 3500 Hz to probe the line side with a plurality of tones (e.g., 500, 1500 and 3500 Hz; or 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000, 3500 Hz). The amplitude of the tones are weighted to reflect the transmissibility in the voice band. The value of Z.sub.var considered to be optimal is that value which minimizes the power of the echo of the weighted multitone signal. Embodiments are presented that require intervention by a technician for the calibration procedure, and embodiments that automatically perform calibration using dial tone without manual intervention.

摘要: Weatherseals are provided by a pair of base members (21c, 21d) which may be attached to a pile (22) formed by winding fibers (yam) around a band (51) as the band travels along an endless path. A section of the pile (22) on one side of the endless band (51) is cut to provide cut pile section (23) and a continuous pile section (22a). The continuous pile section (22a) forms the bow, arch or loop (22e) by disposing the base members (21c, 21d) in side-by-side, back-to-back, or perpendicular relationship. The cut pile section (23) may be removed at the base members (21c, 21d) or halves of the cut pile section (22b, 22c) maybe left in place. The remaining cut pile section halves (22b, 22c) form one or more brushes along the outside or inside of the bow, arch, or loop (22e) formed by the continuous pile section (22a). The outside surface (22d) of the bow, arch, or loop (22e) may be provided by a sheet or fin (80) of thin material which controls the imperviousness to moisture or air infiltration and the frictional characteristics of the outside surface. The fin material (110a, 110b) may also be disposed on the outside of the brushes formed by the cut pile section halves (22b, 22c). The fin material (80) may be applied on the endless band (51), or fin material (110) may be applied over the pile (22) wound thereon, and attached together with the pile (22) to the base members (21c, 21d). The cut pile section halves (22b, 22c) and the outside surface (22d) of the bow, arch, or loop (22e) may be attached by base members (21c, 21d) to a member, such as by adhesive or via one or more T-shaped slots, that is in sealing relationship with another member and engagable therewith to provide a resilient seal.
