摘要: A pre-filtration apparatus and system using dissolved oxygen ozone-treated water processed through an oxygen saturator having a flow distributor for even distribution of the water. Fully saturating the water with excess oxygen and injecting this high-pressure mixture into a blender have a lower pressure atmosphere to produce a plurality of micro-bubbles known as white-water. Influent water enter the blender through nozzles aligned with the injection of the high-pressure water to blend with the white-water. The blend passes into a hydrocyclone separator from the bottom, spirals up separating waste water from the clean water. Clean water is discharged; waste water is passed to a recovery unit for further processing and recycled. Volatile gas from dissolved toxic chemicals adsorbed by the micro-bubbles is discharged through a carbon filter recovery process.

摘要: A system for counting particles entrained in a flowing fluid and for automatically calibrating the counting system is disclosed. A conduct through which a fluid carrying particles flows has a transparent section. A narrow light beam, such as a laser light beam, is passed through the transparent section to a detector, such as a photodiode, that detects light scattered by the particles. The scattering pattern is useful in counting the flowing particles and measuring other particle characteristics, such as size. The measurement system can be calibrated by passing the light beam through a transparent slide bearing a standard particle array to a detector, either the measurement detector or a second detector. The slide is moved at the same rate as the fluid flows, so that the scattering produced by the standard array is useful in calibrating the measurement of the flowing particles in a conventional manner. The calibration may be accomplished by deflecting, such as with a movable mirror, the light beam through the moving slide to a second detector or the body containing the conduit can be moved out of the way so that the slide can be moved across the original light path. A multiple solenoid valve may be provided to selectively direct the particle bearing fluid through the conduit, direct reverse flow of clean water or a gas, such as air, through the conduit to clean the conduit or remove any particle contamination or jams.

摘要: An all digital physical parameter sensing network. Sensors under control of a central computer measure factors such as temperature, pressure, flow rate, filter efficiency and the like at numerous locations in a system such as a water treatment plant. Each sensor is precalibrated with voltage offset information, sensitivity variations, corrections for nonlinear behavior, etc. stored in memory at the sensor. All sensors generate corrected voltage signals conforming with the measured physical parameter, so that any sensor can be replaced without requiring recalibration. Basically, the system comprises a central computer, a communications interface between the computer and a single bus, plural sensor nodes along the bus each including a sensor for sensing a physical condition and processing the sensed information to correct for sensor individual characteristics and for transmitting the corrected sensed information to the central computer. Assembling the various sensors and their sealing engagement with their electrical connections.

摘要: A method and apparatus for treating raw influent water to remove particles, algae and toxic chemicals from the water. Basically, air is dissolved in recirculated water under high pressure in an air contactor unit, the air saturated water is intimately mixed with the raw, particle bearing, water in a particle mixing system, and the water, particle and air mixture is passed through an air bubble separator wherein bubbles formed when the pressure on air saturated water is reduced carry away toxic gases and particulate material. If desired for further cleaning the water can be sent through a second series of air contactor, particle mixer and air bubble separation, but with a gas comprising ozone to further remove suspended particles and non-volatile dissolved organic matter. In order to improve mixing of the particles and the air saturated water passing through tubes, preferably a pattern of dimples is formed on at least part of the interior wall of the tubes. Upon completion of the process the water is ready for use or for further filtration in a conventional filtration plant.

摘要: A vortex system for separating particles of varied size and density from a liquid stream. A particle bearing liquid is introduced tangentially into one end of an elongated cylindrical chamber to form a rotating liquid vortex therein. An impeller at one end of the chamber reinforces the vortex flow. Either a series of tangentially oriented jets introducing a gas or a gas saturated liquid through the chamber wall or a rotating central chamber section further increases the vortex rotational flow. The vortex produces a heavy particle rich outer region, a gas and light particle rich axial region and a cleaned liquid annular region therebetween. The cleaned liquid flows out of the chamber through an outlet at the chamber end opposite end at which the particle bearing liquid is introduced. The heavy particles in the outer region and the gas and light particles in the axial region are each removed through an outlet. A variety of component orientations and auxiliary devices may be used to optimize system operation.

摘要: A filtration system for water or other selected liquids that includes an ozone mixing station, a primary solids and gas separator and, if desired, a second vortex particle separator and filter system. The ozone mixing station includes a high efficiency ozone generator and a channel arrangement, such as a spiral tubular treatment coil, through which the ozone/liquid mixture passes to assure thorough mixing and provide time for effective treatment. The primary solids separator includes an offset inlet jet through which the liquid from the ozone treatment station is injected into a first circular chamber. The resulting rotating liquid vortex moves to a narrowed co-axial second circular chamber to cause heavy particles to concentrate at the outer perimeter then to a coaxial larger third circular chamber. The liquid exits through an annular outlet located around the chamber axis to prevent buoyant particles in the axial region and heavy particles at the outer periphery from passing out with the liquid. Gas collects in a cylindrical axial region with the lighter suspended particles in an annular region around the gas column. The gas phase is removed through an annular, variable, series of holes at the top of the chamber. The liquid from the solids separator may be passed to a filter system to further treat the liquid.

摘要: A system for filtering a liquid stream, typically drinking water from a natural source. The system includes a plurality of filter stations, each of which receives at least a portion of the influent liquid flow, passes the flow through a filter and passes the filtered liquid to an affluent line. When the filter has reached its capacity for removing particulate material from the liquid flow, preferably as determined by measurements of pressure drop across the filter media, a small quantity of the clean affluent liquid is passed through the filter in a reverse direction to back flush the filter media, with the flush liquid directed to a waste water line. Back flushing can be accomplished automatically under microprocessor control, using signals from a filter media pressure sensor. With a plurality of parallel filter arrangements, continuous flow to the affluent line is easily maintained, since the back flush cycle is short and all filter sets would not be in the back flush mode at the same time. The filter has a porous tubular core bearing filter media on the core surface. The core is housed in a canister having an entrance directing influent liquid into the canister tangential to the core and an affluent line connected to the interior of the core. This configuration provides improved filter media life and efficient reverse flow during back flushing.
