Abstract: Novel 2D organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites, including (4-CF3—PMA)2PbI4, that emit in the blue spectral region, and methods for making same. The CF3-substituted material exhibits a ˜0.16 eV larger bandgap than corresponding halogen-substituted materials. This family of materials offers a degree of freedom in tuning 2D perovskites to specific bandgaps for optoelectronic applications. These materials are highly stable, easily synthesized, and do not suffer from phase separation.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and system for medium access control is provided. Time slots configured to include mini slots at the beginnings thereof. Devices are assigned time slot, mini slot combinations as transmission opportunities. A device can attempt to use a transmission opportunity when it has a packet to send, by beginning data transmission in its assigned slot and mini slot and potentially continuing the transmission up until the end of the assigned slot. If another device is already transmitting in the assigned slot, the device refrains from using its transmission opportunity. Higher priority devices can be assigned transmission opportunities corresponding to earlier mini slots within a slot. In some embodiments, multiple devices can be assigned the same transmission opportunity and a collision detection mechanism can be employed. In some embodiments, all devices detect if a slot is idle and advance the beginning of the next slot upon such detection.

The method comprises: receiving an adaptation request for a virtual link within a virtual network embedded on an optical substrate network; generating a plurality of candidate embeddings based on a topology of the substrate network and a current embedding of the virtual link, each candidate embedding satisfying the adaptation request; determining a total cost of each candidate embedding based on a disruption cost of the candidate embedding; and selecting, as a new embedding, a candidate embedding from the plurality of candidate embeddings in accordance with the determined total cost of the selected candidate embedding.
