摘要: An improved spider-anchor pin assembly (14) for a drum brake (10) is provided. The improved assembly includes a stamped sheet metal spider body (42) and a one-piece forged anchor pin piece (46) removably attached to the spider body by a plurality of threaded fasteners (82, 84). Preferably, the anchor pin piece is symetrical about a plane (P) extending normal to the axis of the anchor pin sections (94 and 96) and bisecting of the flange section (76) thereof.

摘要: A drum brake spider assembly (100) for an expanding shoe drum brake (10) having a removable anchor pin (18) is provided. A spider member (14) is provided with an anchor pin receiving bore (39) in which the anchor pin is removably received. The anchor pin receiving bore is provided with a first counterbore (114) at the inboard end thereof and a second counterbore (118) at the outboard end thereof. The anchor pin is provided with two annular grooves (122 and 124) in which are received first and second snap rings (128 and 130). The diameter (116) of the first counterbore is smaller than the outer diameter of the first snap ring when the snap ring is radially expanded sufficiently to remove same from the first groove in the anchor pin.

摘要: A rotor is provided for use in a wheel speed sensor assembly for sensing angular velocity of a wheel about a wheel support. The rotor is adapted to be mounted to a wheel for rotation therewith about an axis of rotation. The rotor includes a wall portion which extends in an axial direction coaxially about the axis of rotation and terminates in an annular edge portion. The rotor face has ripples or undulations formed therein which define an annular array of lands and recesses for providing wheel speed information to a sensor during wheel rotation. Also, the undulations provide a rotor face structure exhibiting a high degree of stiffness to resist deflection by forces applied to the rotor face. The wall portion also serves as an oil slinger to route oil or grease derived from a wheel hub or the like away from proximately located brake shoes. The rotor may be mounted to a wheel, such as to the brake drum mounting flange, by means of an annular flange which extends radially outward from the wall portion.

摘要: A brake assembly for a vehicle includes a stamped spider member, an air chamber mounting bracket attached to one end of the stamped spider member, a cam shaft supported in the air chamber mounting bracket having an S-cam member affixed to one end thereof, cam spacer selectively locatable on the cam shaft for adjusting the relative position of the S-cam and the spider member, and an anchor pin supported on the spider member opposite from the air chamber mounting bracket with the anchor pin being supported in a cantilevered fashion at one end thereof by the spider member. A pair of brake shoes are provided having an anchor pin end engaging the anchor pin and an S-cam end engaging the S-cam member. Rotation of the S-cam effects pivotal movement of the braking shoes about the anchor pin to brake a vehicle associated therewith. An anchor pin spacer is selectively locatable on the anchor pin to selectively adjust the relative position of the brake shoes and the spider member. A return spring interconnect the S-cam ends of the brake shoes. A shoe retaining spring is connected to the web of each of the brake shoes adjacent to the anchor pin end thereof and extends around the anchor pin for biasing the anchor pin end of each of the brake shoes toward the other through the anchor pin. The shoe retaining spring is spaced inwardly in a radial direction from the shoetable of the brake shoes to shield the shoe retaining spring from the heat generated when the vehicle is braked.

摘要: An improved spider assembly (46) for expanding shoe drum brakes (10) of the type utilizing cantilever mounted anchor pin members (18) is provided. The anchor pin includes a pivot surface portion (62) and a slightly enlarged headed portion (66) extending from the outboard side of the spider member (14). A specially configured washer (80) is slidably received upon the pivot surface portion of the anchor pin and is of a sufficient outer diameter (82) to axially retain the brake shoe webs (26) upon the anchor pin. The washer (80) is provided with a radially extending portion (94) and an axially extending portion (84) extending from the outer periphery of the radially extending portion at a diameter (86) greater than the outer diameter (88) of the anchor pin. The difference between the axial length (70) of the pivot surface portion and the axial width (72) of the brake shoe web is greater than the axial thickness (96) of the radially extending portion of the washer but less than the total axial length (98) of the axially extending portion (94) and the radially extending portion (84) of the washer thereby assuring that the brake shoe can not be assembled to the anchor pin unless the washer 80 is properly positioned thereon.
