摘要: A conduit is shut off by a shut-off valve mechanism which is attached to an external periphery of an exposed region of the conduit. That region is exposed by excavation from the ground surface. A drill mounted on the fixture is actuated to cut out a section of the conduit. A sealing shoe mechanism carried by the drill is positioned within the cut-out section of the conduit and is actuated to make sealing contact with the cut edges of the conduit in order to block the passage of fluid therethrough. Alternatively, the drill can be eliminated by preforming a gap between two sections of the conduit and providing the body with a through-hole which is aligned with the conduit sections until the sealing shoe is displaced into the gap.

摘要: The present invention relates generally to illumination devices and method of use in tunnel alignment. More particularly, the present invention relates to an illumination device producing a concentrated directional light beam adapted for verifying the center plane of a boring in an underground mine passageway. The illumination device includes a first elongated portion having a longitudinal axis. An arangement for fastening the first portion to a support is provided at a first end of the first portion. A second portion rotatably received by the first portion includes a light source for producing a directional light beam. The light beam is adapted to be directed away from the longitudinal axis of the first portion. An arrangement for retaining the second portion in a predetermined angular position with respect to the axis of the first portion is also provided. In a preferred embodiment, the second portion is telescopically received within the first portion and includes a hinge arrangement which permits pivotal movement of a holder for the light source relative to a segment of the second portion to a location substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the first portion.

摘要: A self-propelled drilling head comprises a base section including gripper shoes mounted for extension and retraction to selectively grip the wall of a hole being drilled. A first actuator is provided for extending and retracting the gripper shoes. A drilling section is mounted on the base for reciprocation relative thereto. A second actuator is provided for urging the drilling section downwardly relative to the base section when the gripper shoes are extended. A cutter bit is mounted at a lower end of the drilling section. A third actuator is provided for rotating the cutter bit and comprises a first hydraulic motor having a first output shaft. A second hydraulic motor is spaced below and laterally offset from the first hydraulic motor and has a second output shaft extending parallel to the first output shaft. A driven gear is mounted at the end of each output shaft. A drive transmitting gear mechanism is meshingly engaged on opposite sides by the driven gears. A first conduit supplies pressurized hydraulic fluid to the first and second motors. A second conduit conducts hydraulic fluid from the first and second motors. A power transmitting mechanism operably connects the drive transmitting gear to the cutter bit to rotate the latter.

摘要: A de-railed railroad car is replaced onto a track by removing a knuckle from a coupler of the derailed railroad car and replacing it with an adapter member. The adapter member is attached to the coupler by the same pivot pin that held the knuckle. By then raising the adapter, the wheels of the de-railed railroad car can be lifted. By then moving the adapter horizontally, the wheels can be placed over the track, so that when the adapter is subsequently lowered, the wheels will be placed onto the track.

摘要: A re-railing unit for re-railing a derailed rail car comprises a base, two stabilizer rams located at opposite ends of the base, and a port plate slidably mounted on the base. The support plate carries a pair of vertical lifting rams from which is suspended a vertical lifting arm. The bottom of the lifting arm is hook-shaped to engage the underside of a rail car drawhead. The lifting arm raises an end of the rail car in response to extension of the lifting rams. A shifting ram then slides the support plate across the base to reposition the rail car wheels over the track. The lifting arm is lowered to enable the wheels to rest upon the track.
