Abstract:
The invention provides a hand held razor-containing cutting device formed from two separable halves that are connected together during use along a centrally located longitudinally extending parting line. The two halves of the tool are held in contact with one another by means of frictional connecting elements that allow the halves of the tool to snap together for use. A pair of adjacent disassembly tabs are provided. One such tab is located on each half of the tool to facilitate separating the halves of the tool by prying the halves apart, usually with a screwdriver or similar tool that is placed between the tabs and then twisted to pry the tabs away from one another for separating the two portions of the cutting device so that the razor blade can be removed and replaced when required. The frictional connecting elements comprise C-shaped cooperating retaining studs that extend from one half of the tool and during assembly snap into openings provided in the other half.
Abstract:
A combination flower pot and tray is described which can be quickly assembled without visually orienting the tray with respect to the pot. It includes a lug located at the center of the tray and extending upwardly therefrom and adapted to snap fit into an opening in the bottom of the pot. Three provisions are made for helping to orient or locate the tray with respect to the pot including side walls on the tray which conform generally to adjacent side walls on the pot, a cylindrical skirt on the bottom of the pot which fits telescopically into a mating wall between the side and bottom walls of the tray and a blunt conical point at the top of the lug to help guide it into the opening.
Abstract:
A plastic injection molding machine is provided which includes a filter for the continuous removal of foreign particulate contaminants from molten resin. The molding machine has a filter assembly with a passage for molten plastic resin and also includes a movable filter body containing a plurality, e.g, two, removable filters movably supported within the filter assembly for transporting the filter element between at least a pair of alternate positions, including an operative position within the passage containing the molten plastic resin and a non-aligned inoperative position. The filter body has a bored opening containing the filter and an accumulation chamber for storing the foreign material upstream of the filter. During operation, the foreign material becomes lodged in the accumulation chamber within the filter body and remains stored within the filter body so that it can be removed each time the filter body is shifted to move one of the filters from an operative position to a non-aligned inoperative position. The foreign material collected and stored in the accumulation chamber is carried with the filter body when the filter body is shifted to an inoperative position where the foreign material can be removed from the filter assembly.
Abstract:
A stackable height adjustment ring for supporting a manhole cover frame upon a concrete manhole shaft liner has a ring body that is formed from plastic resin, e.g., scrap plastic. The ring includes inner and outer radially spaced apart side walls and optionally a top wall. Brace arms which are integral with the walls preferably extend radially between the walls for holding them together. The rings have alignment members, e.g., an inner wall of the ring can have an upwardly facing shoulder upon its upper edge and the outer wall, a downwardly facing shoulder on its lower edge. An upwardly extending cylindrical collar at the top of the outer ring fits the downwardly facing shoulder of an adjacent ring. There is also a downwardly extending collar at the lower edge of the inner ring to fit on the upwardly facing shoulder of a similar inner ring. The alignment members enable each ring to be held in alignment upon each successive ring beneath it so that the rings can be stacked one upon another to adjust the elevation of the manhole cover frame above a concrete manhole shaft liner. Optionally, the rings have engageable ramps for adjusting the pitch of an upper one of two stacked rings.
Abstract:
A cup-shaped bottle base is provided with four upright, circumferentially spaced apart centrally projecting flanges that have downwardly and centrally inclined upper edges which act as ramps or skids to prevent the lower end of a similar base from becoming jammed inside it.
Abstract:
A flying disc toy formed from plastic resin includes a circular central body portion surrounded by a circular rim that has a stair-step cross-sectional configuration. The rim includes an upper step and a lower step that extends outwardly therefrom. Each step has a circular horizontal tread portion and an upright annular riser portion at right angles to one another. An inner surface of the lower riser is dimensioned to form a sliding fit over an outer surface of the upper riser of a similar disc that is positioned beneath it when the discs are placed in a stack.
Abstract:
The invention provides a new method of recycling recyclable waste products suited for household use wherein the container is a plastic injection-molded container having a monolithic body formed from plastic resin and includes a pair of integral compartments. Fibrous waste is placed in one compartment and nonfibrous waste comprising rigid and semirigid container, e.g., glass jars, metal beverage and food cans, plastic bottles and glass bottles are placed in the other compartment so as to presort the recyclable articles. The container is then taken to a collection point where the presorted products can be picked up by a recycling collection contractor and maintained separate from one another during transport to a recycling center.
Abstract:
A recycling container formed from plastic resin includes a pair of side-by-side upwardly opening integral compartments having a hollow partition between them. Each of the compartments has upright side walls and an upwardly opening wide mouth with a peripheral or top edge for forming the rim of the container. The upper edge of two adjacent side walls that make up the sides of the partition are joined together by a horizontally disposed connecting panel located in the plane of the container rim for defining the upper margin of the hollow partition between the compartments. The center portion of this connecting panel is a carrying handle. The invention also provides a new method of recycling recyclable waste products suited for household use wherein the container is a plastic injection-molded container having a monolithic body formed from plastic resin and includes a pair of integral compartments. Fibrous waste is materials placed in one compartment and nonfibrous waste materials comprising rigid and semirigid container, e.g., glass jars, metal beverage and food cans, plastic bottles and glass bottles are placed in the other compartment so as to presort the recyclable articles. The container is then taken to a collection point where the presorted products can be picked up by a recycling collection contractor and maintained separate from one another during transport to a recycling center.
